  1. have been waiting for something, anything. even a crumb would do. I think i'll give it another 4-5 days before i check again, maybe the fence sitting will be over by then.
  2. currently 14.3 at work but did get as high as 15.4 at one point. wind between 27-34 gusting to a max of 47. precip not measured but on and off for most of the night. hoping the coming week will offer cooler and drier weather.
  3. September. Kids go back to school.😀 Daylight fading fast🤗 I go on Holiday🚵‍♂️ More and more people at work start to moan that it's cold(which i normally get blamed for as i like the windows open because im boiling)🤣
  4. September at last so out of the box i come, hoping for early Autumn frosts and some of the white stuff over winter. so will poss get another damp soggy mess for the next six months. Hope not as it's started to spoil my fav part of the year. Fingers crossed🤞
  5. great pics @Mr Frost however here in the staffs moorlands its been an autumn that i intend to put firmly at the back of my mind. Wall to wall, Wet grey crud.☔
  6. this time of year i always start the big tidy up in the gardens. NOT A CHANCE the soil is so waterlogged even my garden wellies are hiding.
  7. @BurntFishTrousers yes please keep these coming very retro cool
  8. working nights so just enjoyed a fantastic light show. may get another later as the cell currently over wales may come this way, fingers crossed.
  9. morning all, hope none of you have lost a roof overnight, wont find out till i get home later. had roof cladding come loose in the night and two windows got blown out, very noisy night to say the least
  10. Met and beeb are keeping stum, on what is to come. Wonder why?
  11. thats just fine by me, already have all my cold weather gear packed and ready to go.
  12. got everything i can cross, crossed for this. Finish work on the 15th for 15 days second half of that will be spending time in the lakes.
  13. 4.1C 97mm hope i'm totally wrong and the temp goes south but with the Atlantic firing at blighty who knows
  14. Mine is still set up for last winter, on the odd occasion it's fired up for ten mins or so over the past week or two. However l think the dramatic drop in temps this saturday will have it firing up for much longer periods.
  15. Click bait, the more people click the more advertising revenue they collect,
  16. Rain on and off throughout the night sometimes very heavy indeed. very noisey due to the metal roof. as i'm at work not sure of the temp but felt rather mild.
  17. 21 days without a drop then at 1725 on Friday the 13th BOOM 12mm in just 20 mins. As it passed, trailing edge gave some rather mean & loud thunder claps. should do enough to dampen the tinder dry moorland and give the fire brigade a break
  18. I've been on nights since monday and i'm starting to feel like a zombie, have only managed to get 3, 4hours max (if i'm lucky) due to the day time heat so good luck
  19. Not had much in the way of heavy rain in my location, seems to skirt around either side. Mind you, i do have part of my foof off at present so it can stay away until the builders have finished
  20. Oceanography was a job that i hoped would turn into a life long career but family issues forced me to change my path in life but i still follow all i can on the subject. I don't believe the AMOC will stop like some doom sayers mention but even a small reduction in the flow will and i believe already has begun to change the weather in the UK.
  21. Regular bus service from hanley to leek. From there you can comute to Rudyard or blackshaw moor
