  1. great pics @Mr Frost however here in the staffs moorlands its been an autumn that i intend to put firmly at the back of my mind. Wall to wall, Wet grey crud.
  2. this time of year i always start the big tidy up in the gardens. NOT A CHANCE the soil is so waterlogged even my garden wellies are hiding.
  3. @BurntFishTrousers yes please keep these coming very retro cool
  4. working nights so just enjoyed a fantastic light show. may get another later as the cell currently over wales may come this way, fingers crossed.
  5. morning all, hope none of you have lost a roof overnight, wont find out till i get home later. had roof cladding come loose in the night and two windows got blown out, very noisy night to say the least
  6. Met and beeb are keeping stum, on what is to come. Wonder why?
  7. thats just fine by me, already have all my cold weather gear packed and ready to go.
  8. got everything i can cross, crossed for this. Finish work on the 15th for 15 days second half of that will be spending time in the lakes.
  9. 4.1C 97mm hope i'm totally wrong and the temp goes south but with the Atlantic firing at blighty who knows
  10. Mine is still set up for last winter, on the odd occasion it's fired up for ten mins or so over the past week or two. However l think the dramatic drop in temps this saturday will have it firing up for much longer periods.
  11. Click bait, the more people click the more advertising revenue they collect,
  12. Rain on and off throughout the night sometimes very heavy indeed. very noisey due to the metal roof. as i'm at work not sure of the temp but felt rather mild.
  13. 21 days without a drop then at 1725 on Friday the 13th BOOM 12mm in just 20 mins. As it passed, trailing edge gave some rather mean & loud thunder claps. should do enough to dampen the tinder dry moorland and give the fire brigade a break
  14. I've been on nights since monday and i'm starting to feel like a zombie, have only managed to get 3, 4hours max (if i'm lucky) due to the day time heat so good luck
  15. Not had much in the way of heavy rain in my location, seems to skirt around either side. Mind you, i do have part of my foof off at present so it can stay away until the builders have finished
  16. Oceanography was a job that i hoped would turn into a life long career but family issues forced me to change my path in life but i still follow all i can on the subject. I don't believe the AMOC will stop like some doom sayers mention but even a small reduction in the flow will and i believe already has begun to change the weather in the UK.
  17. Regular bus service from hanley to leek. From there you can comute to Rudyard or blackshaw moor
  18. Come on matt, chin up. Theres still time and if all else fails you can drive up the road into the moorlands tomorrow. Mate of mine took 3 hours to get from Leek to Rushton, ended up dumping his car and getting a friend to pick him up in a landy.
  19. Well the uplift in wind speed through out this afternoon has certainly changed things a bit. Had 6cm on grass and garage roof but the high wind has stripped most of it away. Heightening the drifts and cresting off the fields onto the roads, proper blizzard now
  20. Currently -7 low at -8.2 snow light to moderate ,wind variable 24-37.
  21. Yes that was my thought. However exteme weather can sometimes do odd things, i would think that the experts in weather forcasting will be going over the data for this wintry spell for a long time.
  22. Interesting comments today about snow melting rapidly and also diverting around large urban area's. Modern living ,concrete tarmac lack of green space and my pet hate ripping up gardens to park more bloody motors, increase the heat absorbed from the sun by a large amount
