Met office temps for Manchester are looking really poor considering how high uppers are..... Funny in august 1990 we managed 35C and uppers were below 20c...I cant find any 850 hpa charts going back to 1990 wetterzentrale only goes back to 1999 unless someone can post them... But here are the Manchester temps from Aug 1990

The met office app for Manchester are still yet to "up the ante" for Monday, still showing a ridiculous 31C.

im never usually checking models at this time of day but wowzers GFS with a stonking 40C and funny enough its in Yorkshire and not London. 34C in parts of North East Scotland too.. Then come thursday and its back into the high 20s possibly low 30s and the heat in Europe doesnt stop...... Watching models lately is as exciting as watching the world cup, we right there in the finals!! 40c is coming home!! No more years of hurt, no more need for dreaming! 3 lions on a sweaty shirt, GFS still gleaming!!

Why is bbc weather still showing figures of 27/28 for Manchester on Sunday and Monday? Very pessimistic considering with 19 to 21C uppers it could be mid 30s and theres a extreme heat warning covering us. 28c isnt really extreme heat

In my honest opinion i dont think this will verify.. Most certainly if the comments are true that the GFS problem of under-estimating max temps has been fixed then i think the GFS needs another looking at as its now over-estimating. Could these temps just be "feels like" temps? Or maybe the GFS programming could been programmed and is now displaying the "feels like" estimates I mean 42C for York, Seriously?? and 40C for Manchester..... oh jesus come on? Its a struggle to get 31C here never mind 40C.
