Oh my it gets dark at night the horrors, even in Summer lol. Even on Sunday's!

Sunshine more prominent now, gone are the heavy showers and fresh breezes. Just need a temperature boost above 20C until September.

Cool feeling, mainly drab overcast and damp after periods of rain, occasional light breezes. Suddenly by late morning the sun came out and humidity levels went through the roof! Forecasted dew points were expected to top around 20C! That sun felt hot alright but this was only the start? Showers and thunderstorms grew from nowhere, lively ones at that, out of the blue up popped the infamous Brumnado ten years ago today bringing with it a trail of destruction. That was some weather event. An F4 event.

Scattered heavy showers locally with thunder possible later, NW England into Greater Manchester one area of interest, some pushing further east as the day progresses.

Muggy feeling with quite heavy showers, should be a mild one tonight. Heating off for a few?

Not sure why, get a sneaky feeling some record warmth may be recorded for a brief period of time. You heard it here first.

Going for a mild if not warm start to the season, sudden big switch to more unsettled and at times very cool spell with the first overnight widespread frosts before another very mild spell into early part of November. Stormy conditions at times thereafter.

Overnight Wednesday into Thursday looking nippy too, possible ground frost for rural areas and single digits for quite a few. Could get close to freezing further north.

Some further north and into Scotland punched some weight too, not been a bad July for some storm lovers. Always be the storm starved though, even during the most active seasons. Such is ;-)

Nice to see that big shiny yellow thing looming in the sky once again, especially after yesterday's wash out. Anything above 18C will feel relatively much warmer too! Holiday makers aside, some would've welcomed the rain with open arms and as always there are going to be winners and losers. Next week looking no different either, mixed all the way, rain or showers some sun and some windier spells. Definitely no heatwave on the cards! Be interesting to know exactly how many people thrive on more variable conditions, should be used to it by now ;-)

Or maybe a warmer more mellow period could even things out, perhaps high pressure dominating? Plenty to talk about and to think we had near on 100F on our shores only a few weeks ago, even if temporarily, latest forecasts paint a very different picture indeed. Anything that far out is purely debatable only with a bit of science thrown in of course. Some guesswork too ;-)

Boredom would soon set in after the third month of non stop action lol. That clip reminded me of the Bournemouth storm from beginning part of July? Just shows how manic that one was for our parts. A real classic that many are still probably talking about.

Gusts only 180 mph here, counting myself lucky lol. Bit of rain won't hurt, a few tree branches ruffled in the wind and by tomorrow most of it will be gone. Sunday on the other hand? Back to square one with heavier pulses of rain moving across in a fresh to strong breeze.

Some rain should come in handy for the farming and gardening fraternity, maybe less so for holiday makers and suchlike. Looks like the heaviest is expected for more southern areas before yet more rain belts gradually push in from the west on Sunday. Apart from that why worry? the Med is baking and we get the more unsettled conditions, just need the jet stream to take a different route and who knows what conditions this could bring as we head into August and beyond.

Lovely today. Anyone moaning about the occasionally fresh breeze or odd cloud patch may well consider a move to a desert maybe? Where 50C temperatures would pretty much crush you. Consider many of the other alternatives and grow some is my motto. Check out five day forecasts in the likes of Iceland too, amongst others LOL. Get a grip ;-) it is the UK.

Thundery shower by Thursday? Looks like it is the most realistic prospect for storm lovers at this stage anyway. All subject to change so supercells can't be ruled out either.

Looks like southern parts of Norway are getting a few storms right now. Off topic I know but lucky for some. In Norway.

Think they're the remnants of last nights storms lol. Next chance of a repeat possibly Wednesday and Thursday when temperatures climb above 27C.

Worth it though when you finally get to see a decent light show.

Lightning off the scale from those storms, impressive stuff for anyone within a fifty mile radius maybe more! Nothing much out west this time although time remains for a repeat of the early July plume event or when Bournemouth stole the show. That was a classic.

Rest assured, some rather strong storms are likely to develop later today, more especially overnight and continuing into the wee small hours. Localised flash flooding, hail and occasionally some frequent lightning. As always there are no guarantees, much the same as the last thundery spell which for some was quite monumental as others watched on in complete awe. Suspect plenty of nowcasting from now on as the sheer unpredictability of these set ups sure keeps the experts on their toes, let alone the curtain twitching brigade. Could be a lively night alright, may even catch a few out.
