  1. Although not falling very heavily here at the moment it is settling because the surfaces are now below freezing.
  2. Snowing steadily here. Rather horizontally in the strong wind. Not falling hard enough at the moment to settle.
  3. Morning everyone. Sleep well? Not looking very nice out there. Seems as if weather forecasts are a bit like a political party. Promise much but deliver little. Let us hope things come good eventually. Haven’t ventured into the mod thread. I expect they haven’t noticed it’s not snowing as they are too busy getting excited about something that won’t happen in 7 - 10 days time. Time for breakfast.
  4. What Blizzard means? A blizzard is a severe snowstorm characterized by strong sustained winds of at least 56 km/h (35 mph) and lasting for a prolonged period of time—typically three hours or more. A ground blizzard is a weather condition where snow is not falling but loose snow on the ground is lifted and blown by strong winds.
  5. Read my post. Didn’t say you had to give your exact address or inside leg measurement. It is nice if you are posting to know vaguely where you are as it provides a picture of what is happening or not in your area.
  6. Unless you are shy please put you approximate location in your profile. Go to top of page click on your name. Then go to to your profile and add in your location. Can be as precise or as vague as you like. If you are posting from an oil rig in the middle of the North Sea it might confuse many.
  7. Sounds good. Having spag bog plus pasta tonight. As it is home made very tasty.
  8. When I was young I always had snow on my birthday. Well at least twice.
  9. Mmmnn nice. A good one? I’m a vegan apart from the meat, eggs, cheese etc. A salad is nice from time to time. A pork pie goes well with it.
  10. A Chelmsford site to check out. Chelmsford Weather Station - Real time weather data WWW.CHELMERVILLAGE-WEATHER.CO.UK Welcome to this amateur weather station in Chelmsford, the capital City of Essex - Real time data, weathercam, WXSim 5 day forecasts, historical weather statistics and...
  11. But isn’t this personal interpretation what the mod thread is all about? Generally you could say their track record is not very good on many occasions. But that might be because the data on offer has a wide spread. Also the media weather forecasts are based on different models with some saying the BBC isn’t much good nowadays. Until you see it actually happen nobody is entirely sure what weather we will get. We can keep our fingers crossed for a good dump. Plenty of snow as well.
  12. But isn’t your view influenced by the data being fed to you?
  13. If it snows heavily enough no problem. But if it then freezes it makes for very slippery conditions that are difficult to clear up. Slushy snow below goes rock hard.
  14. Can remember on several occasions when heavey snow slowly turned into rain. Nice when the snow fell.
  15. No point in lamp post watching here as council turn them off at midnight. Got a good powerful torch and laser pen. That assumes I wake up. Otherwise it is looking at my security cameras on my phone if feeling too lazy to pull the curtains back.
  16. Really looking forward to saying I’ve not seen it worse” But if I can’t I am not going to loose any sleep. I have prepared as best I can for a cold snap of a possible unknown duration. Hopefully everyone else has turned off or insulated their outside taps and protected things that might be affected by hard frost that might go on for a bit.
  17. Severe Winters WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK The list below may look like something that would happen in the Arctic, but all of them happened in the UK during two particularly severe winters - in 1947 and 1963.
  18. Sorry to be a pain but if something is said I find difficult to believe I tend to ask a question.
  19. Average house 23 odd feet high. Show me some photos please. Yes I have seen very deep drifts but nothing like suggested.
  20. Sorry really don’t want to appear picky but. I still find it difficult to believe in 30ft drifts having lived more than a few years in Essex. Anyone got a photo?
