The weekend looks interesting and beyond. A mate of mine at Manch Airport tells me the planning for a real storm followed by a cold blast. Maybe the pest frrom the west is putting in an appearance!!! -

I guess that is it for Greater Manchester as far as any snow fest this winter. We came close I guess.

Well here in Kearsley we are sitting at -1.0 here. So shovel in car. Up at six at work at 7am. May have to dig the car out for the home journey. My special metal studded tyre covers will get used for the first time.

Lets just concentrate on the cold that is incoming. 4c now and falling. Going out tonight and being laughed at for taking hat and gloves. People just do not understand the wind chill incoming

Well off to Entwistl Resi for a walk in the sun and will be well wrapped up. Guess by next weekend the place will be cut off.

Well I have a 6 foot run to the drain so I am not getting caught out again. Friends laughing at me when I told them I was doing that this weekend as they just don't believe how cold it will get by Monday. I lived and worked in Alberta so see this set up year in and year out with a wind chill of -31 and your eye lids freeze and you have to ensure every bit of you is covered and warm your cheeks up to ensure frost bite does not start with them turning white.

Well that is my outside drain pipes from my gas boiler with a heated trace wire and lagging completed. in 2010 the drain pipes froze and the heating stopped until I poured hot water on the plastic pipe outside. Needed a new trace wire so all completed bring on that wind chill to my north facing back pipes.. Off for a family walk now as it is lovely.

It is interesting that we do not have any cold weather warnings around keeping an eye on the elderly and also warning people of potential frozen then burst pipes. Looking at the charts this cold a snowy end to winter will surpass 2009/2010

I have travelled from the south to Manchester and at 9am it was calm but a bit wet. Arrived here and it is so bad.. Was this planned?
