Winter 2022/23 - Moans, Ramps & Chat

General sense of model output being a mid 'meh' for the Christmas period. UKMO 0z 25th Not great .... try again.. EECM same ish period...looking crud GFS ...is trying its best but.. Boxing day ...colder, so you never know. All looks a bit messy and complex picture upstream best left to pros and more knowledgeable to fathom.. I guess the models are just that, compute models and the output is what it is. Happy Thursday before Christmas all! -

Sometimes, we look for the impossible. Those idea sets of synoptics that will produce wintery nirvana, Northerlies, easterlies. !947/62 or 2010 etc.. I like to look at what we have, glass half full and that. Mild incursions ahead yes, but not warm or endless SW. Christmas Day GFS 6z, not that mild.. then a couple of colder days follow. (If it verifies) ECM similar period no as nice UKMO - bit better. Its not trending all out mild is my point. still a lot to look out for (keeping my expectations in check though..) -

189+ GFS 6Z vs 0z Less certain after 20/21 so hopefully trends cooler after Monday... which is about as much as I can sum up in my non expert view! -

Talking about upcoming 'less cold' period. I find it funny that when 'mild' is used it does not necessarily mean shorts weather does it? 'mild' or 'milder' v less cold or not as cold. How best to describe it?
