  1. I'm up in north west Wales - heavy rain here in Deiniolen after a few rumbles earlier. Caught one strike on my phone. Also seen many reports on Facebook of large hail further west towards Cricieth.
  2. Well didn't think I'd see a cumulonimbus this evening - must be from those showers in the south west
  3. Some rather interesting clouds here in south east Wales this even - feeling a little muggy now too.
  4. Wow, the wind is really picking up here in Bridgend now with some clouds rolling in.
  5. Same here in Bridgend I'd say - quiet then suddenly huge ferocious gust of wind then quiet again.
  6. It's eerily quiet here in Bridgend but with light/moderate rain but as you can see on my weather station the pressure is falling quite quickly now
  7. Schools in Cardiff, Swansea, most of the south Wales valleys and parts of west Wales will be closed on Friday. Gosh it's pretty scary isn't it? I'm from north west Wales originally so I'm used to strong winds and severe weather but now living in a more populated area in the south east (Wales) I'm slightly worried about this one. 8. I remember Met Office issuing red for parts of England where there were much less rainfall while Wales remained in amber, seeing 100m+ of rain and some towns in south Wales valleys under water. They definitely have some work to do with their warning system.
  9. Finally someone's said it - that south east Wales region alone has around 1.5million people living in it!
  10. I'm here in Bridgend, south east Wales (around 6 miles from the coast). Went a bit quiet overnight but the wind has started to pick up again with a recent gust of 25mph. 11. January, here in Bridgend was rather boring, but we did see the mildest and the coldest temperatures of the winter so far. We've had a lot of cold(ish) days but it's been rather gloomy even under the high pressure that has dominated for the majority of the month. Here's January in numbers: Max wind gust: 29.5mph Average Wind Direction: WSW Max Temperature: 14.9C Min Temperature: -3.9C Average Temperature: 5.9C Rainfall: 96.52mm Max pressure: 1,043.01 hPa Lowest pressure: 993.91 hPa
  12. Little rain overnight and some light rain around this morning. Amounted to 1.52mm. Rather boring weather at the moment but will be nice to see some sunshine towards the middle of the week. I've had a new weather station too so feel free to take a look. Looking forward to some higher temperatures in the summer and UV levels to test the station's UV function: Personal Weather Station Dashboard | Weather Underground WWW.WUNDERGROUND.COM Weather Underground provides local & long-range weather forecasts, weather reports, maps & tropical weather conditions for locations worldwide. 13. My Nan who's in Deiniolen (nr Llanberis) was also saying the same - heavy rain there but nothing on the radar!
  14. Anyone else still in the No Storms club? I've had no overhead storm or have seen a single lightning this year... I have spent time in north west Wales and south east Wales. I'm not really sure if I'll see any this week either!
  15. Let's see what today brings. I've been ridiculously unlucky this year - spending time in north west Wales / Bridgend and Cardiff and haven't seen any lightning. All I've heard is a couple of distant thunder. I'm in Bridgend today so who knows...
  16. Following some early morning thunder & lightning here in north west Wales - this beaut popped up to the south of us just before sunset this evening!
  17. Nothing much here in Cardiff either - we had a day in June and that's about it!
  18. We're missing all the heavy rain that was in the forecast for Cardiff today. Currently dry, with the occassional spot of rain. Quite gusty though.
  19. Not much of a heatwave here in Cardiff. Overcast and dull. Yesterday was the same, so quite a disappointing week up to now. Let's hope it brightens up this afternoon.
  20. Raining here in Cardiff at the moment - big lumps of rain.
