  1. 18z ensemble charts indicate a 100% chance for snow in Omagh on the 17th. Can't be bad to that, haha!
  2. Something definitely brewing towards the end of the month according to the 18z. The ensemble graphs for my area (Co Tyrone) showing excellent snow potential for later this week (100% chance on the 17th ;-) ) and the end of the month. A downward trend in temperatures looks the form horse.
  3. Too right, Ronan. We appear to be in a good spot for potential snow later this week. All charts seem to show something is in the air.
  4. Is it going to be cold enough for snow on the 20th, though?
  5. Stole this from the model thread, looks like we all stand a good chance of seeing a bit of snow on Thursday.
  6. GFS ensembles sorrowing a decent chance for snow at the end of the week. Used Omagh as the location for this forecast.
  7. Just to follow those charts the BBC weather app (taken with a lorry load of salt) showing my first snow symbols of the season. My altitude tends to give us the white stuff and it could be cold rain in Omagh down the road. Hopefully the charts ramp up the cold as the week progresses. That low out of Iceland has been on my horizon since Thursday past so great to see it still there as we move closer to +0hrs. Interesting reading on model thread as the FI charts start to sniff out the signals that Fergie had mentioned last week.
  8. Great shots, Ronan. To get the northern lights do you have to do a long exposure or is that a straight up shot without any fancy techniques? Looks like we're in one of the better spots for this PM blast late next week. We've done really well out of these setups over the past few years.
  9. Was just about to post that image, Ravelin. Looks a lot different to the same time from this mornings 06z.
  10. I wonder could someone point me in the direction of a blog/website that provides information on the basics of reading the PV charts singularity posted above. I am a rank amateur but can get my head around most aspects of the pressure charts/models, however, the charts above completely flumox me. Many thanks.
  11. Hi guys, could you explain what Ruben's chart is indicating for the novices here? Cheers.
  12. Don't know why but it's not letting me add pics at the minute. Is there a file size limit? Funnily enough I'm taking my wee lad to Cooley castles this afternoon for a bday party on that road. That's a fair drop in height down there. I'mean the opposite in that I'm an omagh man moved to the lough so I got to increase my snow chances with my move!
  13. Had a nosey at the model thread for the first time in many months. Looks like some interesting weather ahead. Did any of you get the fantastic sunrise earlier this week? I caught a lovely shot of it from my phone. UK weather forecast shared it on their Facebook page and it garnered over 1000 likes, my finest Facebook achievement. After that dreadful summer here's hoping for a winter with plenty of snow. You'll miss all that mountain snow, Pomeroy, when you head down the hill. You staying in Tyrone?
  14. Great covering here too. I went to bed at midnight and it appeared to be melting away, however, woke at 4.30am and it was a full on blizzard outside. I would say we've 3-4 inches lying here.
  15. First shower and snow sticking well already. Good sign of things to come.
  16. Credit were credit is due, the met warning was due to begin in 15 mins and bang on cue the snow is hammering down here. Ground completely white already. That shower moving into Donegal at the minute looks pretty tasty. Heading straight at us here in Tyrone as well!
  17. Some very beefy showers en route and turning wintry, could be a fun night!
  18. 10cm+ forecast for areas over 100m. Interesting to see if it comes to pass. Pity it wasn't mid January so it stood a chance of hanging around for a decent spell.
  19. Wasn't even aware there was a chance of snow this morning!
  20. Light dusting here this morning with a hard frost. Nice snow shower just moved through with big fat flakes. Tried to catch them on the phone, not great quality.
  21. On the week ahead weather on BBC it showed the front moving east as far a Wales and then retreating back west through Ireland where it turns to snow. Could all be very different later in the week. 18z appears to be more positive, by 7am on Saturday morning the mild sector has been squeezed out and ppn showing as snow. Furthermore, the feature on Wednesday has come up as snow as well, a little bonus?
  22. Todays 12z has heavier precipitation covering all of Ireland, however, the warm sector is more pronounced so looks like cold rain. Hopefully the 18z holds precipitation in place and squeezes out mild sector.
  23. 18z tonight has the front further inland, some parts of Ireland could do well if this comes to pass.
