  1. Blowing serious here South of Dartmoor, 32.2 mph ( 50 mph on my hand held anometre ) its a constand roar outside, and one of the most sustained storms for a while. Cant wait for the squall front to come by and see what gusts we get then. Then I am looking for a north flow and cold air mass and potential low attacking sothern areas from that low moving in from the West spitting the high pressure up... could snow? it is possible.
  2. 59 mph gust here today and 16.5c in Exeter on friday. High hopes for the storm of storms for snow to occure and making ready the wood supply here and generator for power
  3. Yes I remember those days to, 1979 here was classic with 20 foot drifts and -13c at night. 1978 Feb snow was deep and I remember helicopters dropping food for animals, but it all melted so quickly. 1986 -1987 were very cold here, we had a month of snow 10 feet deep and the 10 inches of snow all blew into drifts. The best snow for sheer beauty was 2010 when we had 9" which remained un thawed for 10 days and a very white christmas with some night lows of - 16c I must admit I miss the blizzards, ahh those days when my 3 brothers would grab our torches and walk around the fields measuring how deep the snow was drifting! oh well may be this winter will give us the blizzard of awesome depths.
  4. Sudden squall gust here near Dartmoor rattled down the chimmney at 20:55 @ 45.5 kmh and then gone again! Still waiting for a memorable freak one of blizzard like 1891!
  5. Happy new year from the fringe of Dartmoor's wild wilderness. Windy, drizzle & fog hugging the hills. Winds SW 21 mph 11.3c @ 467 ( 137m) ASL.
  6. I'm new here but having just purchased Aercus ws3083 weather station I thoughtit would be good to share data. I live at 467 feet in a basen valley on the edge of dartmoor. Last two nights we have had -6.1c and -5.7c. Ice 52mm thick. Generally we have a lot of rain and hill fog & drizzle. Winds, well we have had 54mph on my hand held and 36.5 mph in station devise. Snow well not much since 2010's 9" but when we have blizzards we get cut off with upto 10' drifts. John
