  1. Looking forward to this winter so it can warm up a bit and I can turn my heating off.
  2. Are we heading for a 1 season uk Cool dull and wet with occasional bright spells. It makes you wonder.
  3. I've been a member on here for over 10 years. I've started noticing more low pressure activity back end of winter, I've got no proof or data it's just my personal observation.
  4. Typical we get Northerly charts ,at the end of winter, from my point of view last summer in North Yorkshire was cool and wet,& a cool and wet winter , now a cool and wet start to spring, people in the UK need vitamin D . I keep looking at the charts hoping for a southerly airflow. 20.oC is all I'm asking for .
  5. I found GFS to be very good this Winter just my opinion. I suppose we'll have another 9 or so months till I'm back in here , joining the chase. Take care everyone hope we have a hot summer . See you late November 24.
  6. MP-R yeah seriously I think I've got a screen shot on my phone from my cars dash temperature reading. I'll have a look through my photo gallery.
  7. I remember mid August 2023 and a daytime high of just 9.oC and cool drizzle, it's amazing how February can be warmer than August. I'm hoping for an early summer. 20.oC mid April will do me fine. And 37.oC in July.
  8. With climate change and the ice caps melting all the melting ice, is falling as rain in my back garden and my local streams, it's going to take some serious dry warm weather in spring / summer to dry my garden out.
  9. I see some mild weather on the 12z better than this 4.oC and heavy rain. 14.oC and a mild SW airflow yes please. I've written this winter off now, roll on spring.
  10. Yellow weather warnings here for snow I'm 474ft asl and just rain here Northern part of North Yorkshire. Can't see any disruption locally.
  11. It's when mid/late January is warmer than mid July, is 2024 going to smash all warmer or hottest temperatures on record . There's one thing reservoirs are full after all the rain hopefully we won't see hosepipe bans this year.
  12. I hope mother nature balances the wet horrible weather we've had into a warm spring and a warm pleasant summer. Here in North Yorkshire it just seems to rain all the time, from early July last year until now, apart from a bit of snow a week ago. My house feels damp, I love the snow and cold weather, but to be quite honest, I'm looking at a hope of milder than average charts to be honest than cold looking charts, that goes against the grain for me, Never thought I'd be saying this mid January, roll on spring .
  13. I hope August this year isn't 9.oc like it was in my neck of the woods a few days last August with cool drizzle wet and also windy .
  14. The chart below is looking like quite a storm imo for next Saturday, maybe another named storm. I'm not ignoring next week's snow potential, just thought I'd throw this into the mix.
  15. Sorry for not posting a chart, I struggle with Internet complications where I live, far to slow to load sometimes, 06z looks a lot better upto 168hrs. The Greenland High looks stronger and better placed , and the lows seem to be giving us a better Northerly, they seems by next Tuesday/ Wednesday low pressure around the SW that could potentially keep us all on our toes, and mix a few surprises. Again I'm sorry for the lack of charts. I've been a member on here 10 years , and lived in the same house, and even in 2024 my Internet connection is not much better..
  16. If some of the recent runs are modelling low pressure systems from the west , the rain is certainly not welcome in the worst affected flooded areas, and will not help the 100+ Flood warnings in force.
  17. Just for lighthearted fun , hope none of you are having a winter break in Spain or parts of Southern Europe You might need ski's. I think there's strong support for widespread snow events cropping up all over the UK from next weekend onwards.
  18. Are these a good forecasting tool then How often do they update .
  19. Good evening folks, I'd like to think by next weekend we could start to see some snow in the forecast, amounts unclear, but North and East facing areas more prone. It's an interesting set up, the midweek set up has high pressure over the UK but the origin of the high has a southern origin and the circulation and rotation is crossing the Atlantic, I think most people might agree, that the more deeper cold is modelling more towards the weekend, great set up for early January, I'll be either very excited this time next week , with potential snow showers, or putting my fog lights on my car. Heads up for the 18z. Just a quick note, thank you for all the kind messages over the Christmas period, I'm now out of hospital and feeling much better after contracting covid. I'm on steroids for a few more days , and I've been given a inhaler. Thank you all again.
  20. I'm getting a bit nervous, that we could end up with a Southerly as time moves on fingers crossed we stay in a easterly regime.
  21. Wet but maybe mild into the New Year. I can't view my normal data as I'm currently in hospital with Covid my symptoms are potentially life threatening, I'm just comfortable at the moment and having oxygen I'm struggling to breathe. I keep looking at the charts occasionally, I've heard chat of a cold mid January fingers crossed
  22. I think those wanting mild weather for reducing heating costs are going to be in luck this January , it's 14.oC here, some of my bedroom windows are open for fresh air. It's very pleasant indeed..
  23. I have to given where I live , narrow roads covered in mud , my wife works for the NHS in the local community her job is vital to some patients. It's like now it's heavy rain showers here and with the snow thawing the roads have deep standing water. a nice 1050mb high pressure would be nice.
  24. I used to have a Lexus LS400 25 years ago with winter tyres on and that got through deep snow and it was rear wheel drive. A lot boils down to driver ability too, My wife drives a 2022 Suzuki Vitara Hybrid 4X4 . And I drive a 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness both cars are outstanding. Staying at home obviously helps but not everyone can. Take care beanz, I'm personally looking forward to the next cold spell.
