  1. Just Sleet here....was always going to be wrong side of marginal on the Eastern side.
  2. If there was no mild sector, there wouldn't have been any precipitation at all though, it was caused by a warm front. Another 2 degrees lower in the 850's though around -4/-5, I reckon it would have stayed as snow for Central and Eastern areas. Lampost watching for another couple of days though and some feisty Atlantic weather off the back of the renewed PV in Canada stirring some super storms up.
  3. Good covering here this morning in Newtownards outskirts, centimetre or so. I haven't slept much, it has been light snow most of the night from around 2/3am, became more moderate outbursts the last hour.
  4. Snow and graupel mixture all the way down here in Newtownards. Ground is frozen too. Wouldn't take much for a covering.
  5. Just had a heavy shower through and the ground is partially white. Didnt see what type of precipitation, but assuming it was either wet snow/hail.
  6. Yes. Even Newtownards has a good bit of showery activity for Monday. I think sea surface temperatures are still above average for this time of year. That coupled with the low 850 temperatures may give more beef to the showers?
  7. Air is slack most of the time, colder uppers are there most of the time (for several days). Seeing a few flakes would be nice, but not expecting it.
  8. Have been watching the models for a week now ever since I seen the meandering high forecast and the non-ssw event of last week. I'm very inclined to say if meto are seeing ecm and ukmo as the most likely scenario, it's game on.
  9. Think you got that the wrong way round. Comparison shows Greenland...greener than previous (and lighter blue)
  10. If it doesn't guarantee anything, then why is it even of benefit to discuss at this stage....until the effects are "laid out a bit clearer"? Just seems to me like an SSW is really just a pattern breaker, there are lots of those in different aspects of meteorology. Telling me the weather pattern is going to change in 2-3 weeks? Hardly wizardry on an island like ours.
  11. I bid you all good luck for some of the white stuff on Christmas day. No chance for me as I will be in Singapore (pending negative test in the morning). 32, sun and afternoon downpours.
  12. Good luck for snow this week everyone. I won't see a drop as in partly Sunny Malta for the next 12 days.
  13. Just thought I would let you all know that Geoff Waters passed away (Geoff W) https://www.netweather.tv/forum/profile/3212-geoffw/ He posted in here from time to time and was from my home town of Bangor in County Down. I only found out because my Mum mentioned about one of her old clients in a disability care home had died last week and she mentioned the name. I befreinded him on social media platforms also but haven't really used them in a long time. RIP Geoff and I hope we made your time on this earth full of wonder and excitement here on Netweather.
  14. Snowing down to East coast here, albeit of the wet variety. The afternoon felt lovely and warm too. Did not expect anything wintry, even though knew there was a brief colder spell this weekend.
  15. Very true. In direct sunlight snow acts as a reflector of heat radiation. Surface temperature and dew points have a much bigger impact.
  16. On drive to Cairn Wood on Craigantlet, excuse the singing. Few other pics and videos also. Melting here now, nearly gone at coast. Few spots of drizzle. Now for a hot cuppa, pizza and then work. VID_20210213_113316.mp4 VID_20210213_113545.mp4 VID_20210213_113316.mp4 VID_20210213_114220.mp4
  17. And we have go, everything turning white in literally seconds here. Footpaths and roads included.
  18. I have to say, it is quite rare for frontal snow here in Bangor, but that is twice this winter so far we have had some.
  19. Just to show how bad meto can be, they are showing light rain for my area now until 11am, yet it is moderate snow.
  20. Still snowing light and it has left the ground wet. Hoping it doesn't turn into a slush fest.
  21. I'll definitely need to stay safe tonight if it is still lying. Have deliveries for the local indian restaurant.
