After a disaster of a winter in the central belt we get this...in April.

Over night minimum 0.4 Deg/C

Current temp 2.1 Deg/C

Cloud temp was -3.1 Deg/C now 0.5 Deg/C

Just to stick the knife further in...we have the perfect winter set-up for the east coast to get piles of snow that is apart from the air source, instead from a freezing continent we have it coming from North Africa.

I almost wept when I saw it.

Loving all the pictures everyone, those Northern Lights shots are superb.

The weather...I'am not really sure what season you could describe what we have at the momment, this cool dull grey is not pleasant, we are starting to get the odd bit of drizzle coming through here...oh the joy.

Our snow chances looking forward are zero there is nothing to indicate this will change, this chart over on VWCharts is in fantasy land, even the mad thread have stopped chasing their tails for anything cold.

Roll on spring for some much needed warmth.

I agree...outside this afternoon wearing a t-shirt in the middle of winter, I mean it just shouldn't be.

The grass has taken off again it will be needing a cut shortly if it grows any more.

If I remember correctly we have had two falls of snow this winter, the first week in December and that non-event which gave us a sprinkle but that was weeks ago.

Does anyone remember a few years ago when we have an extended atumn it wasn't mild just mid single digits for weeks, this is starting to look like that.

What a very nice day...plenty of sunshine with a little bit of warmth thrown in for good measure...you could say Spring has sprung.

As much as it pains me to say I think we could be done for this winter, the outlook towards the end of the month is dire for cold, into March its not looking much better.

I'd be more than pleased if I was wrong.

Just had a peek outside...its clear calm and cold and a beautiful view of Orion in the sky...Betelgeuse looking stunningly red.

So I wasn't imagining it...I thought I saw a couple of flashes earlier on then really heavy hail showers, I was out at the shops later on an it was snowing and 1deg/C showing on the motor.

Best wintry weather around here for a good while.

Is this the next thing the climate loonies are latching onto, they really need to give it a rest, Christ they said we'd all be burnt to a crisp twenty years ago...and not much has changed has it.

I've been watching this "up coming event" since last weekend, I have my doubts its going to snow, for around here almost all the models are showing at best a wintry mix or cold rain...so its all up for grabs.

Amazing how its flipped back and forth this week...most frustrating.

That stubborn high pressure continues to be a bloody pain...we would kill for that during summer but once again here it is ruining the UK winter.

We are rapidly running out of time once again for a decent winter.

Its getting wild outside big gusts...various bits of the house is creaking and the kitchen hood vent is making strange sounds, I expect I'll have to go and find the bins in the morning as they sit on the drive and get the full skelp of the wind.

Mild as hell though its showing 10.5 deg/C outside...quite a contrast to last week.

Looking into Monday the wind will die down a bit but still pretty high, tomorrows commute will be interesting on the motorway.

Back indoors after a bit of shopping, the rain is getting heavier with the roads awash with water, there's a bit of a breeze picking up too.

The wind charts are looking wild, not a pleasant night coming up.

What snow we had vanished as the wind picked up this morning...all gone in no time.

I had a quick look on the daft thread and some of them are getting excited about possible cold in March...talk about clutching at straws.

The dreaded Azores High Pressure looks to be establishing itself again, the destroyer of the UK's winter...the grass will start growing thinking its spring.

Again thanks to everyone for posting those stunning snow pictures...that has been one hell of a snow event up north for you folks and for once its lasted more than a few days.

Down here in the snowless central-belt the overnight minimum was -4.7 deg/C, still decently chilly and icy but dry.

The current temperature is -1.1 deg/C so still cold and dry.

The weather can go do one over the weekend...back to mild damp & windy pish...I'll bet the rain has no problem lashing us over the coming days...bloody typical.

I been watching the radar this evening, all those huge heavy snow showers heading in from the north...not jealous much, please everyone up there keep posting lots of your pictures for all of us snaw lovers doon here to enjoy too.

This morning before I went to work I took a few pic's of the thermometers, when I opened the front door and out into the cold that's the first time in a very long time I've felt cold like that on my face, it brought back memories from long past winters when we regularly got cold like this...I must admit I stood enjoying it for a good while.

Air temp -5.7 deg/C

Ground temp -18,2 deg/C

Motor temp -8 deg/C

When I left work at 5pm in Rosyth the temp on the motor was reading +4 deg/C and light rain, up to Hallbeath 0 deg/C and a bit of white stuff blowing through, an other wee bit up the motorway to home and now -1 deg/C and a some white stuff on the ground...amazing what a bit of altitude does.

Current conditions...

Clear starry sky.

Air temp -3.1 deg/C

Ground temp -16.0 deg/C

Me still boiling we didn't get a dumping of snow today.

Here's a picture of the snow desert in Scotland today.

I would describe the amount of snow we got as a sprinkle...not anywhere near a covering and certainly much less than a dusting.

Fife's snaw sheild was turned up to hyper intensity 11 today which ruined the central belts snaw chances...good job I never took the snaw shovel out the hut this morning, that thing has got a track record of turning snow straight to rain.

Hmmm...looking at the Beeb pressure chart its showing something interesting, after the main snow event passes through another blob comes in from the north west into Fife later in the evening...well we'll just have to wait and see.

Up until this evening it looked like we were going to get some snow tomorrow, the Beeb showing the best chances.

Now though the Beeb is showing just a few hours of light snow...the Meto is showing a horrific zero, and WXCharts GFS has also downgraded for us, but switching to the WX Euro model its looking more hopeful.
