  1. well, sat out outside in back garden at 3.30, with just shirt no coat and had a coffee, whilst watching dogs runaround garden. wow by 5.00 it had turned quite cold, definately not sitting outside weather
  2. Smack bang in the middle of orange area haha, so it can move 20 odd miles north or south, should be problem here ppn charts look fab over 14 hours of heavy snowfall from Friday midnight to Sunday evening.
  3. temp currently -0.8 dps is -4.0 so hoping it keeps steady, ant precip tonight will fall as snow ??
  4. https://www.facebook.com/groups/ExtremeWeather/permalink/1878576932402902/ This is what we need to clear the roads
  5. welcome to Netweather, i live in Matlock, and have been on this forum for a few years now, great place to spend some time. winter weather of course but storm threads good aswell
  6. thinking of going through Derby City centre on new ring road to the airport. flight delayed now for 1.5 hrs not due in until 9pm, just got to watch the snowfall, and when where it arrives.
  7. yeah that's what I,m thinking, East mids to Peak District, The car is a panda 4x4 so its fine in snow. probably pack a couple of shovels. Flights coming in from Tenerife leaves at 2.30pm, so should know if its arriving, just don't want it diverting to Manchester or something silly like that. thought about waiting till its landed, ask family to have coffee at airport and i will be there in a couple of hours, but then snow could be worse by midnight, what with less traffic on roads, although sometimes that's not to bad, less cars around so 4x4 can more easily navigate roads
  8. cheers , I might miss out M1, and go straight though City Centre and then ring road. enjoy your snow.
  9. Just a quick question. i am due to pick up family from East Midlands Airport at 7.30pm, Do you think this system will cause problems this far North. i have a 4x4 so can travel, but may leave earlier to avoid poor conditions, if its bad, family can always book into airport hotel, haha. anyone help out with sensible predictions, I,m coming down from Peak District so need to prepare carefully.
  10. fantastic day, carn.t complain. snow totals reached 20 to 25 cms, drifts on top moors 2ft to 6ft feet blocking roads. walk home at midnight was truely arctic. howling winds 40 mph gusts, blowing snow, bloody freezing not massive depths, but plenty to be pleased with, a real wintry blast, and that's on 01.03.18. Yep all in all a great 15 days watching he drama of model outputs and arriving at zero hour tonight with a great winters blast. a few more days to consider, should keep all of us on our toes, and who knows what end of March can bring. Remember in the not to distant past we had 30 to 40 cms of snow on 23.03.13. hope everyone's enjoyed last few days, and good luck to you lucky beggers in the SW you deserve some winter action at last.
  11. Est Midlands today been on, looking to use video clips of the crazy quad bikers, online and TV.
  12. Blizzard on the Moor. These guys were unreal, I got out of the car and lasted less than 30 sec with no gloves and only jeans, God only knows where they were going in that
  13. Just been onto Matlock moor, its unreal up there, blizzard conditions, never mind the blizzards in South West. some drifts over 10 feet, white conditions, then came across 3 young lads on quad bikes (wtf). -7 temps with wind at what 25 to 35 mph gust. Try upload vids later. you can just see one of them running after bikes then he disappears
  14. i did, thought it might be a few hours of blue sky and sun, OH no looks like its merged, seems to moving west agin as it gained momentum from the south
  15. oh my lordy haha. just checked net weather radar, snow had pepped up a bit and the ppn that had been steadly coming in from east, now changed, merged with system coming up from down south and there's a push from the south now. this could be this afternoons fun and games
  16. yeah agree, when you check out sat images there is alot coming out of Brest. currently 17 to 22cm here on garden and drive, up to 30 in drifts. Just cleared patio, so should be able to see how much more we get . can not believe how much the ppn coming off North Sea gave, and how far west it went
  17. check out sat pics, there is massive amounts of stuff out over bay of biscay. SW is going to get hammered hard, it looks huge, darwfs the stuff currently over France
  18. as I typed could hear C Kirkwood on BBC forecast, don,t know when it was recorded but totally busted. no mention of snow in Midlands, just light showers on and off. well its hammering down here now, she looked fed up, reading from a scrip ?? never trust Beeb weather forecasts, but this mornings was so wrong
  19. wow looks like the ppn is pepping up a bit, more greens on radar, fantastic, also seems to be more ENE. i have a rest day off work today, weather gods planned it haha been out at 7am, plenty of drifting in town so must be great on tops
  20. Morning. Same here, moderate snow since 3am, ppn of north sea just grouped together and moved east over the region . not read the forums yet, but looks like Chris Fawkes call it correct ?? further east.
  21. we need to have faith in Chris Fawkes and the easterly shift in ppn. he,s gonner be a hero, or I want him reprimanded,
  22. OH man that is so sad, I,m feeling really guilty. you need to find the man that installed that, and give a dam good talking too.
