  1. Dont know about that yet, 15 to 20 cm here, drifts on the tops roads 3 to 4 feet. had the snow plough on the A619. clearing drifts
  2. looks like the north sea is starting to produce the showers again. just checked XCW for wind direction and its changed, a direct Easterley flow, fantastic, check it out. nothing out over coast of Linc at 1.30pm but now plenty of ppn. noticed that coldest 850s (-16 are now coming in land, could this be setting of the ppn, also if winds picked up, lot more instability. I,m sure others with more knowledge can inform
  3. would you adam and eve it. after last 1.5 hour blizzard, that's left close to 10 to 15cms here, we had fantastic blue sky and sun, great for kids to sledge in. temps up to -1.8 BUT, After checking radar looks like there's round two incoming. (hope it holds its course and intensity, streamer over North Notts moving in an Easterly direction, if that hits here, could cause trouble. Just as 1500 council employees are deciding whether to leave work early.
  4. Thanks for thoughts GP. Great to see you posting in Regional thread. now if it panned out as above that would be some March weather to remember, although March 2013 (23.03.13) was good. not sure of patterns that produced all that, will have a look at chart archive for a memory jog.
  5. wow big upgrade on the snow today, moved into an orange warning, torrential snow been given out, and yep its full on blizzard type snow. County Council have sent out internal email asking employees not to leave yet, there sending out snow plough teams on the main roads to Chesterfield
  6. well met office upgrading all the time, at 7am only had 1 symbol for heavy snow shower, at 8am had two NOW at 9.30 theres 4. i know they keep changing, but maybe the winds have veered more easterly this morning, and colder 850s are creeping in, ??
  7. plenty of chances left I feel. earlier I though radar was showing ppn veering more easterly but seems to be still more ENE. Showers tracking across the region. Also 850 temps at -12 look like going to drop to -15 in next 3 to 6 hours across landfall, maybe down to -17 over North sea should help with showers, also checkout meteoradar shows plenty of ppn out in north sea heading our way ?? http://www.meteoradar.co.uk/zoom/1242/887/bliksem?zoom=6 plus more stuff coming out of Germany, wheres that going, will it pep up over North sea.
  8. Looks as if showers are veering from name to a more easterly direction, check radar out
  9. these showers are kicking off now, yeah, maybe a fabled Humber streamer setting up, feeding showers in to midlands, last one put another down 2cms, and looks like 3 or more bands coming in over next couple of hours, I wonder if the colder air creeping in is setting them off.
  10. Blessed Weather, what a great post, many thanks for that, easy to follow, hope ECM comes off
  11. http://www.meteoradar.co.uk/zoom/1242/887/bliksem?zoom=6 good radar link, picks out north sea stuff
  12. Have you seen GFS run for midlands, snow totals, totally wappy, but mega amounts for Friday, now that would be great if it came off. over 30cm this way
  13. it was at the top of Slack Hill on way to Matlock. so plenty of elevation, another 100 metres and the snow was 6ft wall to wall blocked teh road for over 1.5 miles, until they went up there with JCBs to dig a path, snow ploughs were useless.
  14. Yep, bought some extra milk today, and an extra loaf, plus some soup, ( won,t go overboard hahah) i think when you look at previous snow falls and weather patterns in place this current one has far more potential to be memorable. plus this morning it was -4.8 here and it was cold, we haven't even got to next week yet, so what the hell -15 windchill will be like. although March is nearly upon us.. i am going to sit back and enjoy what ever comes at us (beast from east) i also think it has been absolutely fantastic to watch all of this on the models evolve, on net weather for weeks. best viewing and show in town by far.
  15. Wash streamer in 2010 gave 36cms here overnight, went o bed with 5cms woke up at 6.30pm and unreal depth. topped out in garden at over 60cms on the slopping lawn. wj
  16. Forgot to mention this road is one that you can usually speed on at 60mph, its not a little country lane.
  17. March 2013 23rd had heavy snow here, absolute chaos, so could get a repeat this next week. just shows get the right patterns and anything possible, I also believe the conditions in 2013 weren't as extreme as this predicted spell
  18. Yep can confirm that, 2 feet of snow massive snow drifts 23 March 2013. check out the archvive charts. and this spell looks even more severe.
  19. in all my 10 plus years in here I have never seen such a fantastic gfs run as the 6z, truly stunning to watch and sheer bliss, if your a cold fan. if it came off anything like that, then I don,t think I could ever complain again about our crappy mild winters again (well not much complaining haha)
  20. well models seem poor this morning, but what a great morning sat watching heavy snow showers piling in, nothing much settled here yet, wish i had altitude of TM, but 190mtrs not to bad, great watching the snow blowing across the valley. looks like lot more potential today and Tuesday
