  1. Hello all, After looking at the gfs charts on netweather and reading Tony Gilbert's outlook, I decided to drive to Bicester, Oxfordshire. I arrived at about 2.15pm and then found out I had just missed a storm, I then looked at the radar and realized a massive mcs was taking place. After half an hour and seeing a couple of distant lightning strikes I decided to drive further up the road. I was not disappointed to see a great gust front in the bucknell area and found a spot to park. The video shows everything I saw, including the large chunk of tree half way along what I think is called Bicester Road, in Bucknell ?. I then went on to Northampton, Peterborough and ended up in hunstanton to see a departing storm out to sea. Spoke to a chap on the beach at Hunstanton and he said he had never seen a storm like it before. Video here, apologies for the rain and wipers, watch in 1080p full screen if available: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCtnP6dLjCA There are some large hail reports in the Oxford Mail : http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/14708960.YOUR_PICTURES__Hailstones_bigger_than_grapes_smash_glass_and_set_off_car_alarms_across_Oxfordshire___stormy_weather/
  2. Been a very long time since posting here, great to see the convective thread going bonkers as usual in last 2 days ! Decided not to drive to kent yesterday and obviously made the wrong choice on that. Studied the radar and predictive radar today and chose epping uplands for 5pm, thinking there would be at least 1 storm cell, but it was not to be and 1 look at the netweather radar on my mobile sent me back home because all i saw was 'thundery rain mess'. So pleased for those in the south east corner last night, what a show !
  3. GFS 6Z, can someone get me a sick bag please

I think it all started to go wrong when we started to measure snow depth in centermetres rather than inches !!.

At this rate, in a few years, wet snow will be considered the new benchmark for a good winter.

      Evening thunder

Thunderbolt it was pretty newsworthy so would not say boring in terms of meteorology, I could say December 2010 was boring because I don't like cold and snow (I do really)

  8. 4c dp 0 I was here on snow watch for the fantastic streamer event that dumped 6 inches of snow. One of our members phoned up the met office and asked why we didn't have a red warning and they said 'it will be red very soon' she then told us here and it was just great.

Gfs still showing an east north east with all the ppn as a kent clipper but its still a long way off. I hope we get something from it, if it happens at all.

  10. 5c dp 0 Great pictures, great memories. It was a truly fantastic snowfall. Quite a windchill factor outside now.
  11. Thanks for the replies to my question Yes im a tad excited about it but will wait until nearer the reliable timeframe. Good luck to anyone in north Norfolk.
  12. 6c dp -1 What do people think about the 'possible' easterly showing up at end of next week ? Likely to disappear on the next run ?
  13. Woke up to no snow here (apart from tiny dusting on car), saw reports in the regional thread and headed straight out. This time ive got a decent conversion out of youtube so it can be watched full hd - fullscreen, I couldn't find any suitable music so just grabbed a track off freeplay, which is a tad short. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-ssYWfKlbc&feature=youtu.be
  14. proper snow here some big flakes, doubt it will be much though
  15. 4c dp 0 clear sky Good to read the positive thoughts on more possibilities Thanks Daniel, sounds good to me.
  16. A few pics from my little snow hunt this morning, couldn't get to the spot where I wanted to take more pics:
  17. 1c 0 dp Some areas near me have over an inch of snow. Some cars driving past me had even more on their roofs.
  18. Some of these snowfalls have been very localised by the sound of things, we have pretty much nothing here but its a winter wonderland just 4 miles away !
  19. Thanks Hammer, ive just taken a drive to high wych and its fascinating what a tiny difference in elevation can do, yep 1-2 cms of lying snow, all fields and trees are white.
  20. Hi Hammer, how much lying snow have you got ? If you don't mind me asking
  21. Oh dear, was that it. All eyes on next week for a miracle disturbance then !
