Spend all winter chasing easterlies, then get one that does not produce a single frost in my area and just a tiny dusting. Recorded -5.8 c windchill yesterday, I was out in it and it sure felt cold ! Great to see some people got a decent covering though, all was not lost. So will we be lucky at end of feb or march, winter is not over yet........

Tiny snow grains here, they are bouncing on hard surfaces so maybe graupel ? Temp 1.1c Dp -1.6c

Unexpected frost here this morning, -0.5c air temp and -1.0c in the screen, but 2.5 c on the grass so maybe the grass has kept some of the heat from last few days. What will the cold spell bring for our region...

Just looked at the GEM, ha ha ha and blimey but not likely. Max gust here so far today 30 mph. Maybe a short snow event next week but not holding my breath......

I am so not looking at the gfs near the end of its run, not looking, not looking and definitely not looking ! I am looking at next weekend though.....

Apologies, I have only just seen this. My opinion is yes its great value. Both models use the same sensors and I have been very happy with the accuracy and reliability so far. -
"Firefox has blocked the outdated plugin flash from running on metoffice.gov.uk" Has anyone informed the ministry of defence that "flash" is most certain to be entirely unsupported by all major browsers real soon ???? Im letting all my browsers block it now, the powers that be want it gone, google chrome wants it gone, android wants nothing to do with it. It will be gone no matter what.

Ahh, I didnt think of that, pulling cold air in. Well im a storm and snow fan so win / win for me either way ! But it is the gfs and from what ive seen over many many years of watching it, it really does over cook lows and then downgrades. South east region was very lucky with this cold spell that has just ended, definitely worthy of 'notable' description.

Rain not that heavy here, max 1.63mm per hour. Has anynone else been looking at the gfs storms that it keeps chopping and changing about ? Whats the betting that they all shift much further North or South nearer the reliable timeframe

Not good to hear about freezing rain in this thread, so dangerous and hope we dont get anymore. Gfs still keen on some storms / wind events, but is it going way over the top with them, its downgraded this sunday to a mere breeze compared to what it was showing only a few runs ago.

Temp -1.2c here now. Just counted 17 frosts for this month, 18 tomorrow. Next period of weather maybe quite boring unless we get some proper downpours or decent wind gusts. Shame about the Nacreous clouds last couple of days, too much cloud cover...

Very close to being an ice day here, temps just holding above zero. I see the gfs was over egging the wind on Sunday, now just a windy day. I hope this next spell of weather has some interest or possible warnings from met office, but if not we need some rain anyway.

How odd, we still have fog but no fog mentioned on forecasts, more importantly all hard surfaces wet and likely to freeze but no ice warnings ??? Gfs probably over egging the wind gusts that its currently showing for this next period of weather.

Met office got the ice warnings right for sure, ice that you can not see at all because its so fine. Min temp here last night was -3.2c at 1.00 am and a surprising -6.0c on the grass. Models still not sure about how this cold will end or not end.............. Anyone else on wind watch with the gfs, consistently showing a period of strong winds

-2.6 c this morning and -4.0c on the lawn, also a fair amount of fog which has cleared. Now 8.7c on the roof and 4.2c in the screen and I just managed to capture some rays on my mobile. Interesting model outputs this morning, will the 'south east cold show' continue....

That looks like 4" of ice, almost a sculpture ! Im on fog watch tonight, and keeping an eye on a possible storm watch next week, who knows
