Bright and sunny with a gentle breeze morning with a temperature of 9c. A few clouds starting to bubble up. Pressure 998 mb rising.

Wet and wet in a nutshell! Temperature 8c. Wind 15mph. Had to succumb to heating to just get temps up a tad.

Very very wet. Persistent heavy rain. Temperature currently 12c with wind speed 8mph. Had to go to dentist and the roads are flooded in many areas. It has gone very dark and foreboding again outside.

Really noticing the loss of daylight hours now. Have lost quite a bit of afternoon patchwork and quilting time . Trying to cut material with a rotary cutter in fading light isn't sensible so I am having to give it up around half three as at best I waste material and at worst could lose a finger. Difficult to cut with the light on as it reflects off the rule.

Feels really mild to me as I had to shed clothing whilst working this morning. 11c. Very still and very damp and dreary. It has just started to drizzle.

I’m getting confused as to whether its still summer! Feels very mild to me this morning although the temperature says 12c. Sun starting to try and break through the clouds and it is very still with no wind.

Yep have cut mine twice in November and if the current weather trend stays will probably need one more cut before winter.
Yes this is the problem. Mine has grown but I’m going to ignore it. Just don’t fancy getting the mower out yet again from its winter hibernation shed.

Very mild today at 15c with the sun trying to break through. A bit breezy it has to be said. A good day for drying the washing me thinks!

After a bit of a wild night with gusty winds and torrential rain, we have a bright and mild day today. Still a little breezy but the sun is out. Off to catch up on the model thread now to see what is in store weather-wise going forward.

Overcast, damp and dreary again today although mild. Wind just starting to pick up a little. Temp 13c and wind 11mph.

A very dreary damp morning. Very still with hardly a leaf stirring. Temperature 8c. Humidity 95%.

We had evidence of a ground frost this morning. The overnight low was around 3-4c. The neighbours front lawn certainly looked as if there were patches of frost on it. I thought at 11pm last night it seemed to be dropping cold, so much so I contemplated putting my cloches on my Gazania’s and catmint.

Quite a downpour yesterday afternoon/evening it has to be said. Clear and sunny at the moment and very still after the strong winds yesterday. Indoor garden room temperature 16.6c and outdoor temperature 11c.

Yep, my dads farm was near Macclesfield and he told me all about the deep snow and drifts in that February. He also knew some cattle farmers from the Vale of Clywd and they were locked in deep snow drifts for weeks on end. I remember as a young lad the severe cold of 62/63, which was probably a once in a life time experience for longevity for the British Isles. Sure other cold spells since have been notable but not of the prolonged duration of 62/63.

Oh yes. My mum is now 90 bless her and if cold weather is under discussion she will always bring up 1947 which she feels was more severe than 1962/63 in some ways.

I am getting fed up with all this ongoing warmth, so think now is the time for a ramp. The long term winter charts for CFS certainly wetting the appetite for snow lovers. Only a few on this forum will have memories of 46/47. Certainly not me but do remember 62/63 as something special. For a bit of fun can anyone name the town in the picture below taken in March 1947 when 1.47m of snow was recorded ? Clue and its not in Scotland !

I’ll go for somewhere in North Staffordshire, possibly Stoke?
