  1. Are we in Wolves in for at least a little sprinkling of the wondrous white stuff? Or are we going to be too far west ?
  2. Yes, I will agree with that sentiment, we seemed to do better than usual last summer for thunder and lightening, we had some corkers around these parts. Usually though it seems the eastern regions do better for thunderstorms.
  3. The SE members always seem to forget they usually get the better end of the bargain during summer with regard to thunderstorms. Do hope everyone gets some snow though before winter is done with us.
  4. Still snowing steadily in Wolves and the sky looks very heavy with snow. Very pretty. My garden from the top and the wood over the back garden fence.
  5. Yes, we have been deleted Does that mean they have no idea what the weather will be in the central swathe of the country then?
  6. @KTtom I think what they mean is the systems are likely to transfer across the atlantic starting Saturday but it maybe after that if it all stalls . It has to be said, as others have mentioned previously, very poor writing indeed. Otherwise I don’t think they have a scoobydoo what the weather will do going forward.
  7. I do actually have a sympathy with them trying to write these especially when they are not sure what is going to happen weather wise but perhaps they need to write them differently. They literally cover every possible outcome, which makes them come across as contradictory. Perhaps they would be best just saying they cannot give a definitive forecast given the ongoing fluidity of the weather models due to uncertainty caused by “x” or “y” . At the moment these forecasts are just crazy.
  8. They’ve forgotten to slip in thunder and lightening somewhere
  9. Just a thought, these aren’t automatically computer generated written forecasts are they courtesy of PC wizardry. It might explain the poor grammar and other mistakes particularly if no “hooman” is checking them.
  10. / have to smile though, the met office certainly like to cover every base don’t they.
  11. wonder why, they could easily use the names Queenie, Ursula, Xander, Yasmine and Zelda.....
  12. After a biblical storm and lashing rain last night it is much more pleasant today around these parts and everyone in my household feels so much better for it. The sun thankfully only managed to poke its nose out off and on for a couple of hours this morning before the clouds were finally able to shut it out giving at least a day (today) of welcome relief from its overbearing heat.
  13. The heavens have just opened up here. Not torrential but heavy rain with thunder rumbling around.
  14. I sympathise as well, I fostered 6 x 12 week old kittens last autumn.....boy they go mad at times don’t they, I was the climbing frame It’s started to rain really quite heavily here now and the thunder rumbles on.
  15. Thunder rumbling around but that perishing sun has come back out - really do wish this heat would do one now, totally fed up with it. It has gone very black to the north and the wind did pick up but has dropped again. I’ve been struggling to keep my foster cat cool all afternoon whose nursing 3 three day old kittens. She has felt the heat today so I’ve had to sponge her down with cold water. So hoping that storm develops and clears the air somewhat.
  16. I think to be fair, and I really do include myself in this, most people on here are really not begrudging summer sun lovers any periods of nice dry warm sunny weather; after all it is summer so we should expect warm dry sunny weather and as long as it is comfortable it’s no real deal Certainly from my angle though it is the extremely hot temperatures the country seems to be getting lately I really dislike. The extreme temperatures being forecast for next week are going to cause me more than physical headache, they are going to cause me quite a lot of worry and trouble.
  17. I’m with you guys on this. Having had 3 thoroughly miserable days last week with a sick migraine, I have felt so much better with the cooler weather. Do very much understand people wanting warm sunny weather in summer both to enjoy and get outside jobs done but simply don’t understand the fevered wish for constant 30+ degrees of heat, surely a dry day with 22 degrees is good enough. I’m hoping this awful heat we are faced with again this coming weekend is going to be tempered with thunder and rain rather than the sun constantly out burning me and everything in the garden to a frazzle.
  18. What is it with the weather across the UK these days. It is either trying to drown us, burn us to a crisp or blown us away completely. Perhaps someone with a better memory can say whether we used to have such windy weather during summer months. I know we have had windy spells during the last couple of summers as I have distinct memories of tying the beans to fences or any other structure to anchor them down but I don’t recall windy summers during the 80’s, 90’s and 00’s. Is my memory faulty? I too am glad the excessive heat has left us but this wind is also doing my head in. The weather patterns seem so extreme at the moment, whatever happened to a nice gentle benign UK summers day.
  19. Same here. I have a wood at the bottom of my garden so birds aplenty and I could see some distressed blackbirds the other day with cackling nauseating magpies. The magpies are a menace - they even appear to terrorise the Jays. I love wildlife I truly do but would happily employ someone to shoot the magpies if I could - horrid destructive cruel birds. I have feeders up water always available. I even have a nuthatch visiting the seeder - he feeds upside down and makes an awful mess under the seeder
  20. Are there any more storms brewing across the Midlands for tonight or will we be able to get some decent sleep overnight. Our local midland storm chasers seem to think it could be a noisy night across the region.
  21. no, was fighting with gluten free cake that had stuck to the tin. Cake slice slipped.....whoops nearly lost tip of finger.
  22. We have a very nasty storm here at the moment. Lightening is terrifying. I cut my finger quite badly at tea time and very nearly cut another one off when this storm suddenly kicked off about 15 minutes ago I jumped so much!!!
  23. Its sort of rumbling around frequently but not “getting going” so to speak. I am in the house so might be missing something but I haven’t seen any lightening yet - has anyone else local to me seen any?
