  1. Game of Thrones, has anyone else never seen it?

Confess to watching GoT from the very first episode although I do understand fantasy doesn't float everyone's boat .  Am crying already that this is the last series but so looking forward to the spin off series that are already in the pipeline.  The series only skimmed the books and did change a few character storylines later on.  Whether a fan or not the cinematography and special effects are extremely clever and spectacular.  I'm left really wanting a real life dragon 😍🤣 There have also been some some memorable performances by some very well known actors - Sean Bean, Charles Dance, Conleth Hill, Jerome Flynn, Aiden Gillen, Dianna Rigg just to mention a tiny few and Peter Dinklidge really brought the character Tyrion well and truly to life.  The books are amazing, George Martin has managed to encompasse the history of most of the worlds dynasties and cultures in one saga - very clever novelist.

  2. Now Oct 31st, we’ve got more chance of getting out of the gravitational pull of this so called Black Hole than getting out of the EU, ATM...enough is enough!!!

Think you're right Ed.  With these things there almost always has to be a compromise but unfortunately the politicians have behaved very badly on both sides I have to say.  John Bercow dragging up a law from what was it James I reign just to press his own personal preference for remain was quite frankly so very childish and hasn't helped the situation at all.  If you or I had done that in our day jobs we most likely (I know I would) have been in some hot water but he just grins and thought it was funny - so inappropriate really.  I rarely agree with Corbyn on anything and he changes his mind daily but he was sensible when he said there must be a way forward with Brexit that will be acceptable to most.

The political system in this country does indeed appear well and truly broken and parliament is so out of touch.   Wolverhampton voted leave massively I think it was 63% leave to 37% remain and yet all 3 Wolverhampton MP's continue to try and thwart Brexit.  That is really quite shocking when they are supposed to represent their constituents.  No wish or intent to open the old Brexit wounds in any shape or form but they need to get on and move us out of the EU in the correct manner promptly.  The money saved from being pumped into the EU budget really needs spending here at home in the UK.

I know, it shocked me also but it is the second time I've come across it.  A local lady had her elderly cat attacked by a badger too.  I used to have the badgers in my garden and one did investigate the cat flap once but as they do so much damage digging everything up I served them an ASBO although they do try and dig under the top fence every so often.  They're proper vandals 😂😂

Although we had a fox earlier in the winter, not seen it around here for a while now.  I live on the edge of woodland/300 acre farm.  We have badgers and some deer and a two male pheasants called Sparky and Pierre.  In fact just come in from the cat pen and did hear some real strange noises coming from the woodland.  It wasn't badger noises and wasn't the usual deer barking....spooky 😳😱.  Lassy - one of our foster kittens after being rehomed was attacked by a badger (was witnessed) and unfortunately had to have her back leg amputated as a result.

  6. Never thought I'd be able to say we had 20 hours of continuous snow. Never thought when I saw the forecast of 5-10cm that I'd stop measuring when it got to 28cm, as although still snowing heavily, the weight was compacting it. Mendips struck lucky again, oh happy days!

Lovely photo, snow is so magical, enjoy!  We've had virtually nothing around these parts this winter, we were more lucky last winter with two snowy events.  The longest snowfall I can remember in recent years was December 2009 if I remember correctly,  my car was almost buried on the drive.

They annoy me more with all the continual bangs than the cats although I have a foster girlie in the garden room/pen so I'll have to check she's not scared witless with it all.  One or two people round here are firework mad 😞  I'm old enough to remember when fireworks were pretty rather than so noisy

used to build endless houses with mine as a child.  It is amazing what lego is today....but boy how expensive it seems to be.  Do you still get the old toys or games like twister, kerplunk, spirograph

  12. I wonder when the fireworks are going end. Fireworks have been set off long before Guy Fawkes and are still being let off which is greatly upsetting and frightening my pet cat Simba.  I hope that it will end so.  The fireworks that are being let off are so loud and are upsetting me as well as I don't like loud noises. As my late mam would have said "they have more money than sense."

Yes, I do so agree with you; they are so very expensive these days.  They were not too bad around by us at the weekend but kicked off big time last night, probably due to Diwali I guess.  My own cats are not too bad although my Bengal cross looked up a few times and seemed perplexed by all the noise.  Did feel like going out and sticking a few rockets up a few derrieres though I have to admit.  I saw an article somewhere that a town in Holland I think it was, out of respect for the local animal population, used fireworks that were pretty visually but silent so without the god awful bangs and whizzes and other silly noises that emanate from fireworks these days.  Hopefully will go quiet now ..........until New Year and we are treated to it all again 😠

My old cat Scarlet is 19.  She's not doing so well these last few weeks and is very frail. I think all this heat has taken a toll on her 😓

  14. Oh dear!

My daughter's & grandchildren's cat has just died...she was only 18 months' old and just 'went' whilst lying in her favourite place...Her being my own moggie's sister, I'm starting to worry about him now.

What makes a seemingly perfectly healthy cat simply curl up and die?

    1. Snowycat

      Snowycat

That's sad, only 18-months old. RIP puss.  My Jess died at around 2 years old but he had that dreadful disease FIPS and yet my old girl Scarlet still fights on at 19 with poorly functioning kidneys and arthritis.  As long as she wants to battle on with life I will support her.

It is very hard to give them up but we try to home them in pairs if we can.  The girl who rehomes is very careful about placments but I still worry myself silly about them when they have left.    Don't think I could squeeze another one into my troop at the moment though .  I get very attached to my mums actually.

Kitten season has slowed up (thankfully) but will soon be running in top gear again.   My latest mummy had her kittens on my birthday bless her.  By April we usually start picking up the expectant mums again :cray:Here are two of my cheeky bunch.  One of the others a tabby male was advertised as looking for a new home and he has been so very popular....I've now started calling him the George Clooney of the felines....

Hi Dami, check out your local cat rescues.  I foster for one and we always have kittens looking for new homes.  I have a mum and four beautiful kittens at the moment.

So sorry to read this Lauren, you must be devastated.  They certainly do break your heart. I lost my youngest in March, he was only about 2-years old.  Very special he was, a feral  I had spent months working with who turned into a lovely loving little furry man .  Miss him daily and can't believe he has gone.
