  1. What we now have is "Forever Autumn" with little difference between seasons.  In my area summer '19 was a non event with a front parked over Merseyside for most of the time, followed by six months of grey skies together with endless wind and rain.  Although I don't like the cold, a few days of snow would give me something to look at and enjoy.  Hasn't helped my SAD which also occurred during our last sunless "summer".

I also remember something else from that period, a TV movie on the BBC called Threads. That scared the hell out of me!

Sorry for going off on a tangent

It was a 1984 docudrama set in Sheffield.  I watched it then on holiday and it was shocking in its depiction of the after effects of a nuclear explosion on a large city.  No punches were pulled.  Watched it again a year or so ago and it was still shocking.

  3. Yesterday was mostly cloudy with 5C when I went to bed around 1:30AM, this morning clear with just above 0C with no frost visible.  Currently full sun with no cloud so I suspect it's going to be cold overnight.  Although I detest the cold, a few days of snow would be welcome if only it's something new to see.  I don't drive so snow doesn't affect me although I can't ride a bike in icy/snowy weather.

  4. Another grey, damp November day.  I haven't seen much of the sun this past week.  When I was young I enjoyed this time of year. Full of atmosphere and I spent much time with friends messing about with old radios.  Looking back I wasn't messing about with transistor radios rather old valve radios. Putting a finger in the wrong place in an old radio running 350 volts HT could be fatal.  Puts some spice into life!

Sadly no more especially as I'm now practically housebound.

What a thourally miserable day today and yet many are hyperventilating at the thought of more, and extended periods, of bad weather and misery in the form of cold and snow and ice. It's one of life's great mysteries.

Today, another typical British day - cold, dark, cloudy and thoroughly depressing.

Stay safe Pete, this Autumn must be very difficult for you.

    Thanks Markyo.

Fortunately I wore my electrically heated jacket and at high power it can be like a portable sauna, usually mid- or even low power is enough but today was that cutting wind and icy rain so it was full power.  Spent much of the afternoon in 30C water listening to classic Sixties hits - yes, waterproof mp3 player.

  7. Overnight min 0.2C, currently 4.1C.  Netweather reports 2.7C for my location but that will the temp. reported by Liverpool AP whereas I live in a minor UHI.  Currently dry but the cloud has that yellowish tint of snow cloud.  Glad I'm getting a taxi to my local leisure centre this afternoon as being out and about in that sort of temp. would be risky.

  8. On a delivery to Norwich area, dry there but on the way home our route was via Sheffield and Manchester.  Cloudy but dry until we began the descent from Woodhead Pass through Tintwhistle when we hit the rain, and I mean "hit" as the rain became almost torrential round Manchester.  Rain still heavy when we reached Runcorn and it's been raining constantly overnight.  The rain has just stopped falling.  Temp. all yesterday and overnight a miserable 9C so we didn't encounter any of that very mild air further south.
