This has pretty much been the view all afternoon, with a conveyor belt of storm clouds developing to the NE of Brum. Close, but no cigar! Slight annoyed with myself for choosing to stay home rather than go to work today now -

Hah, I used to live in Bethnal Green, so a couple of years ago that might have been the case! -

Storm over Birmingham has been amazing! Pink lightning, red rainbows, and incredible structure. Have filmed it, so will upload to YouTube, but will see if I can get some screengrabs. -

Fantastic walk home! Though my video of the storm itself is underwhelming, as my work isn't in a good vantage point, I snapped some stonking pics as I wandered through Brum. Back end of the first thunderstorm; -

Thunder in Brum. Time to walk home! -
I should add that those cloud formations came and went fairly quickly- by 3.30am it had clouded over completely.

I didn't see those particular ones, but did spot what I think might have been cirrocumulus stratiformis or mamma. The pics below were taken at 3.02 and 3.14am respectively.

Thanks! When I upgraded my phone, I specifically got one with a good low light camera, so I could take noctilucent cloud pics. There was definitely some striking cloud formations- one looked like an eye, whilst there was a face in the noctilucents! Ain't paradolia great!

We were so lucky to get a clearance in the cloud cover as the display started. Managed to take quite a few pics before cloud loomed again on the horizon, but here's just one for now. I'm sure Arni's will be amazing, as he has a better and higher vantage point than me.

Due to partner's symptoms (fever, dry cough, aches, etc) we're going to have to self isolate for 7 days. Unfortunately, as our flat is small, it's not possible to isolate him properly from me, and tbh, it's likely I've already been exposed whilst he was asymptomatic. When I checked 111 online earlier, he wasn't eligible to be tested. I'm sure there's a lot of people in a similar situation, so those confirmed cases really are just the tip of the iceberg, but I will check again at some point to see if the 111 website changes, given the new protocols announced.

Fab. Even though the UK is currently exempt, this is going to further affect my business, as US customers will just assume we're included.

I don't think so. He's in bed right now, so I can't ask.

Yep.

My partner, who works as an IT tech in a secondary school, came home sick today, so I'm sleeping on the sofa tonight. He said though the school is setting up laptops with VPN in preparation for the schools being closed.

Although the evidence is circumstantial so far, if true, it seems relative humidity might play an important factor in human to human transmission of this disease. If that does turn out to be the case, it is a bit worrying, as it would seem to imply that airborne transmission is a bigger vector of Covid-19 than previously thought.

I saw the special Covid-19 programme they had on Monday night, and I was of the same impression as you. Could not believe the inaccuracies coming out of Mr Walsh's mouth, for someone who's supposed to be their top science bod. Utterly woeful. It's nothing new though- he's spent the last week or so comparing Covid-19 to seasonal flu, using similar flawed statistics.

I wonder if we might just get clipped by this squall line.

Feeling sorry for the poor guys who've been trying to load up their band gear for the past hour from O2 Academy. Their box of stage equipment just got blown down the road!

Just seen lightning!
