  1. I stumbled across this on YT a couple of days ago. Thought it was a decent primer for newbies on the science of noctilucent clouds.
  2. Gah! Combo of clouds and buildings is blocking most of my view with such a low appearance this morning.
  3. Nabbed a brief glimpse of my first noctilucents for this year just after 3am.
  4. There does seem to be more intense clumps evolving out of the rain mass, particularly on the eastern side.
  5. Lol, definitely not! Though they're building a high rise right in my NLC viewing spot here, so that's gonna scupper things for me too
  6. Torrential rain here, but thunder/ lightning looks very unlikely.
  7. I was just about to come and say the same thing. Just started raining here (so will hopefully 'encourage' the clubbers to go home instead of hanging about) and what's over Coventry way seems to be pepping up quite quickly.
  8. Line has passed through Brum- looks like we slipped through a gap in the line, so it wasn't as intense as I'd expected. Annoyingly my mobile decided to have conniptions just as the front passed over, so I've lost all the footage, it appears.
  9. Rain started here just after midnight, temperature's dropped, and there's some mild gusts.
  10. Well, I spent today moving all my stock and machines up against my workshop's interior walls, and away from the west-facing outside walls and windows, and covering up stuff as much as I could. Absolutely knackered now, but it's a 150 year old building that's not in the best nick, so I am worried, especially as it's on a hill with the potential for the sting jet in the models. I am caught between the thrill of an extraordinary event, and the fear of serious damage to my business!
  11. Snowing properly here in Brum right now, though I think the ground might be too wet for it to settle.
  12. Having some incredibly intense rainfall and strong winds these past 10-15 minutes in Birmingham city centre as this line passes through. The poor roadies trying to load up the lorries after a gig are drenched to the bone.
  13. Love a windy day- got blown about a bit walking into work this afternoon. As long as it's not piddling it down at the same time while I'm out, I'm all good!
  14. Finally got round to uploading my footage from Monday morning's squall line that passed through Birmingham. Glad that I managed to persuade my partner to hold off going to work by a few minutes that day- saved them a drenching!
  15. One of my favorite things, especially at night. It's so soothing.
  16. The joys of perimenopause! My bedroom window is open almost all year round (it has to get down to freezing for me to close it) but summer leaves me generally sleep deprived between being too hot to fall asleep, and being woken up drenched in sweat. Lovely! Now my idea of bliss is being cold enough to be able to snuggle under my duvet, rather than spending several hours constantly pushing the bedclothes on and off! BTW, I'm only 45.
  17. Fog last night, followed by a delightful sunny Autumn day. Lovely!
  18. Woah, that's a lot of heat and energy to have suddenly thrown up in to the polar regions.
  19. Just got rain here currently, but it's nicely refreshing at least.
  20. That, and erosion of the land itself with each successive storm too. People are stubborn though.
