    Yeah, I probably won't see it approach, seeing as I'm facing east, but hoping to see something if it passes over.

    It's been threatening looking towards the south horizon most of this afternoon here, and we've just had a few raindrops, but it's not looking great for us to get much more than that, I think. Funnily enough, late last night, I was surprised by a strange sound on my home office window, only to realise it was raining! A peek at the radar revealed a small solitary rain cloud, whizzing from east to west coast at an impressive speed, that briefly passed over Brum giving a quick splash of H2O. Talk about out of nowhere!

    All of London got rain last night it seems, except us (NW London), but finally we've had some light rain at midday. Stood outside in it, and it was glorious! Just need a thunderstorm now.

    Yesterday, from my vantage point at home, I could see at least three fires off to the East of Brum, and the day before there was also quite a pall of smoke down to the South. It is worrying, and I really feel sorry for the fire fighters having to deal with them in this weather. For my sins I'm off down to London, just in time for the highest temperatures! My only silver lining is my train isn't till 8pm tonight, so the sun will finally be setting! Might be missing all the thunderstorms too *cries*

    Yup, had to thrust a hat into my partner's hands this morning to ensure it was worn, after they burnt their head yesterday. If only they'd listened all the previous times I told them to borrow my cap (I'm sporting a wider sun hat in this weather!). Even sticking my hand out the window yesterday for less than a minute felt like I was cooking it. Jeez.....

    The temperature outside today has been sheer bliss! Unfortunately it has taken till this evening for that lovely NW breeze to pick up enough to cool down the interior of my flat- was despairing this morning when waking up still in pools of sweat and a horrible migraine. On the plus side, my workshop was no where near as hot as I'd feared, when I went in today, and opening windows helped cool it down some more. I suppose the plus side of an uninsulated old building that easily heats up, is that it also looses heat quickly too. Great in the summer, a little more problematic in the winter! Anyway, glad to be having my duvet back tonight!

    My poor partner had to go to work today, despite only just getting over Covid, but thankfully the school he works at has decided to close tomorrow, so he can work from home. Living in the city centre, it is absolutely baking outside. We've a desperate need for re-greening in these areas, not more high rises and car parks.

    I have learnt to take the time off when temperatures get to 30c and above. My workshop is under the roof of an old Victorian industrial building, and as a general rule of thumb, it will be 10c hotter than whatever the outside temperature is in hot weather. I have, in the past, worked in those conditions, and ended up coming home with heatstroke, so now I know better than to try to 'man up' and endure it- I am no good to my clients if I am in hospital! My sympathies with anyone who is forced unnecessarily to work in that sort of heat. I know I have no intention of hiring help until I have remedied the working conditions at my business.

    I can understand these debates about loving/hating heat happening in other threads in this forum, but to come into a thread SPECIFICALLY labelled for heat haters just to argue the toss, is really incredibly rude and disrespectful. This thread exists to help heat haters express their feelings without derailing other discussions in the forum, out of respect for other forum users. It would be nice if some people could return the favour.

    They've been mentioning the noctilucent cloud displays on Jo Wiley's show tonight, and the news updates, so maybe some new enthusiasts will be born!

    I did manage to catch the show early this morning, but as you can see, it was mostly blocked by buildings. Getting any sort of decent shot was further complicated by the floodlights on the nearby building crane
