  1. I'm still not on board. What protocols - 18h00-19h00 COVID-19 suspects only? This is madness and it will only encourage potential contaminees to visit their GP. Give me a proper protocol, line by line and I'll see if I like it but this vagueness has to stop.
  2. So, I feel feverish and ill and suspect I might have COVID-19. I go down to my GP surgery and sit in a crowded waiting room with men, women and children of all ages. Or are we going to see COVID-19 pods springing up in the car parks outside surgeries? Where is the logic and practicality in this thinking?
  3. I have no idea, Snipper, and I suspect no one in authority has one either. It's the old scenario of being seen to be doing something and that is not a basis for rational decision making. Everything regarding decision making at state level just seems to be so reactive and hence ineffective.
  4. I've gone passed the scared phase and I'm just really annoyed. Mixed messages from leaders are just insane. We need to know what we are doing here - locking down like Italy/SK/China or just letting this "thing" take its course. Uncertainty will just impede any measures that are taken as people simply won't know what they should be doing and will make their own decisions. Either make decisions for us, or stop these half-bummed measures that are just leaving people in a complete quandry...
  5. Exactly. There's a societal-wide problem and this "thing" has just blown it wide open for everyone to see. The question is whether we will, everyone, every culture clan and country, actually learn anything from this let alone make any changes.
  6. What I don't fully understand is the closure of Centres Commerciales. Take our Carrefour in Limoges. There is the food shop, which presumably stays open, but all the small peripheral shops will be closed. What conceivable difference will that make to the situation. What's happening with DIY stores? That's something my neighbour asked this morning. People are just confused by these measures and confusion is not what we want...
  7. Starting to talk about shutting down transport here now - Djebbari, the Transport Minister says 7 out of ten trains will run, then down further from the coming week. A train or bus is the last place I would want to take myself right now.
  8. Agree! OH's parents are very confused ATM, are they not supposed to go out or will that happen later - these mixed message are not helping anyone. Same here in France, what's open and what's not? Seems to be very ad hoc...
  9. M. Blanquer, the French Education Minister has said that most of the French population are going to get COVID-19. Why is the Education Minister pronouncing on health matters? The less of this cross-disciplinary communication that happens the better, in my opinion. Health issues should be discussed and communicated by the relevant health authorities - otherwise it is just newsfeed for the alarmists, especially in the media.
  10. It would be a welcome piece of news but why was there so much talk about asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic transfer early on? This reality would take care of the pre-symptomatic worries but not the asymptomatic.
  11. Only ever watched the London Marathon or Tour de France. Prefer to do sport than watch it!
  12. I think we're well and truly buggered here in France. No coherent government strategy and mad spread... I'm scared but I have enough supplies and a warm dog to cuddle up to...
  13. Why not? A bunch of flowers to an elderly person might be quite nice. Might bunch up some daffodils on Monday for Yvette, one of my local lovely clients. Free from my garden...
  14. Said it vefore! OH booked for next Sunday, the earliest we could. Crikey, I hope this works out OK, but we have just reconciled ourselves in case it doesn't...
  15. Not due to being infected, just our contingency plan as he was booked for April 2 but we feel the need to get him back here ASAP before it may become impossible....
  16. Been trying to keep up to date with BFMTV but it's slow to update. That is seriously crap! OH being evacuated next weekend over here for sure.
  17. Noway has closed all ports and aiirports. I know this will impact me/us personally but maybe it is time. Just for a while to let the numbers settle. I never thought I'd say this, but maybe the EU should take holistic action. We have to stop this "thing"... I'm saying this with tears streaming down my face...
  18. Easier said than done! I know I am anxious and my sleep is suffering but you have to keep up to date with what is going on as the situation is changing so rapidly. I'm taking comfort in the sunny day (partly) today that allowed me to get out and do some jobs in the garden. No run today though, my running buddy injured his (dog) wrist yesterday during a ball game and is limping and I never go without him. He was better this evening after day of rest and just gentle walking so the nice sunny day progged for tomorrow will hopefully be good for us to go gently.
  19. I would contact your local supermarket. Sometimes a one to one conversation can sort something out. I hope you are OK - some of my clients are the same but neighbours (and people like me) will make sure they get their supplies. At the moment, we are trying to make sure the most vulnerable and remote folks have at least a two week supply of non perishable stuff like ready meals that can be kept outside the fridge and canned meals.
  20. That is truly bizarre but a reflection of what "this thing that has come among us" has engendered...
  21. I'm not sure you even need this translated but basically a supermarket not so far away from me has reacted with ironic comment to the mad behaviour of some customers.: You don't need 60 toilet rolls, COVID-19 doesn't give you the trots. You don't need 46 packets of pasta unless you are going make necklaces for your chldren who are off school. You don't need 50 packets of rice. It's not well matched to your 60 rolls of toilet paper as it tends to constipate you. No need for 600 bottles of water, your supply will not be cut off. Please think of those who live far away and their fear and anxiety and buy as you normally would. Consommation - Le coup de gueule du magasin Intermarché de Magnac-Laval contre les achats irrationnels de ses clients WWW.LEPOPULAIRE.FR Sur sa page Facebook, l'enseigne a fait passer un message fort en ironie.
  22. A little bit of therapeutic humour. I think I have the answer to the toilet roll depletion - it's Kenny:
  23. I was talking about this earlier, regarding the elderly. Many have told me that they intend to go to the polling station either because they want to be seen and see others or because they don't trust postal voting. It's a contagion minefield, not just touching objects but the airborne element too. It will also, as was discussed earlier too, be an unreliable indicator of political persuasion and hence could be considered undemocratic because so many people will choose not to attend. BTW our local paper confirmed the location of the first case in Creuse, about 5km from where we have our little piece of land - not that we ever see much of anyone there anyway. It's about 21km from our village but a different Département.
  24. May the karma of the Universe come back and bite him on the bum... Once in the UK, there was a young Polish Mummy with her little one in front of me in the queue in ALDI. She was buying nappies and baby food. Her card was declined and she didin't have enough cash and became very distressed. I bought her shopping for her - the most natural thing to me in the world.
  25. 155 more cases in the Netherlands, now 959.
