  1. Thank you Mapantz, i had a feeling i had seen that advice somewhere before I also meant Mammatus clouds not Mammals - i have learnt quite a lot on here from lurking the last couple of years, Thanks again!
  2. Hi, i was watching this thread a little yesterday as we had the mother of all Thunderstorms here ( i am on the Leicestershire/Rutland border ) and wanted to ask if anyone knew the answer to a strange thing that happened half an hour before? I was at my riding stables about 20 mins from where i live and very near Leicester and a few of us outside noticed that the sky was getting dark and i saw some mammals clouds in the distance which after spending a couple of years on here i knew meant possible thunderstorms ( apologies but i am still learning all the terminology) I also noticed that everybody's hair was standing on end! This was for about five minutes and there were a couple of rumbles quite close by. Anyway i suppose what i am asking is, is it dangerous to be outside when your hair ( and everyone else's ) goes static for no reason? I did mention this to the lady who owned the place and she just pooh - poohed it and said that the forecast had given rain but nothing else ( i could clearly see that there was a huge storm about to hit ) - i would love to know if i was right to leg it to the car with my son and come home?! I think i might have got this idea from a famous photo of two boys who had their hair on end and then were struck by lightning shortly afterward. When we got home i had planned on going out and going a bit further south to 'chase' the storm ( towards Northampton and Corby way ) as i was using Blitzortung and i love a good storm but luckily for me it was pretty epic where i lived. I don't think i have ever heard such loud thunder in my life, I went to the shops in Oakham mid-storm and there was some really severe flash flooding. That really was one of the best storms i have ever seen in the UK but i have never ever seen anyones hair stand on end beforehand!?
  3. Snowing lightly here - village in between Melton Mowbray and Oakham but were quite high up - fingers crossed!
  4. Hi Snow Crystal - thank you for replying I had a look too on the Exmoor webcam and no luck, We moved from Swindon 18 months ago ( where looking at fb and this forum it has snowed this morning) Was just hoping that there was a repeat of Weds up on Exmoor as there was lots of snow, like another world!
  5. Is there any way of finding out if it snowed or is snowing on Exmoor, i took my son up there on Wednesday (he is two and has never seen snow before) as we only live 40 mins away near Tiverton - i was really hoping i could take him again this morning?
