    Another overcast and quite cool day in the Surrey hills , quite a keen northerly breeze …. But it is not raining and the washing is out and drying so not all bad !

    Pleasant summers day here in the Surrey hills but it has been disappointing how cloudy it has been ! Steady north breeze means it’s a good day though to get some washing dry outside almost impossible most days for the last month !

    just passed 25mm for the last 2 hours of rain here in Surrey Hills locally much more judging by radar...!!

    In a clearance presently with the sun out and it feels quite sultry - maybe it will all go bang later ..?

    Heavy torrential downpours in the Surrey hills now seems like umpteenth wet weekend in a row - oh well World Cup next year !!

    We don’t really get fog here inland during the summer wether it’s good or bad - we have had continuous leaden skies and rain since the 15 th of June though !!

    Another dreary summers day here in the Surrey Hills , for this location it really is right up there with the poor summers we had 2007-2012 !

    Also I wonder if we can go a full week without seeing the sunshine ? Not witnessed here in Surrey since last Wednesday early evening !?

    Epsom downs has spectacular views across London towards Canary Wharf and the City of air quality is good you can see all the way across the Thames Valley ! Leith Hill deep in the Surrey hills also affords amazing views North across the whole of London.

    yesterdays rain put paid to next doors tree it snapped in 2 during the torrential downpours !!

    For the red warning for the Feb 2009 event it was issued at least 6 hours ahead of any snow falling - issued around midday Sunday snow didn’t start falling until later that evening .

    They are really cold maxima for Sussex , the air mass coming in is cold but we have experienced much colder conditions previously!

    If we get a Thames streamer Epsom should be a good spot / just up the road in Cobham / Oxshott I Am hoping to do well too !

    Very true back in January people were practically booking tickets for Thames frost fayres after one ECM run !

    Except gfs precipitation model is not regarded at all ...

    its been a constant trend for southern area to be less cold with not good uppers.... might rend the other way though swell

    unfortunately there is a persistent trend to show less cold uppers across varying parts of the South east - hopefully this will correct soon but it’s not 100 per cent snow sure everywhere !!

    I think people do and it’s a good counterbalance to the the hyperbolic run of the century posts we have had today ! Snow yes anything really historic not so sure ! If I was up Yorkshire way though would be pretty confident of some more decent winter - down here in the south not so confident but in with a chance !

    Also thought the way they mentioned in the MO forecast that this was no 2018 BFTE may help to temper expectations

    A four day cold spell with the mean below zero and say 3 mornings of lying snow would be a pretty good cold spell - I am not sure where people are seeing anything more than that - I live hearing the recollections of winters past not sure this period will be a match to them though ! ?
