  1. Torrential downpour coming in from the west. For crying out loud! Gone back to heavy! What is wrong with this topography?!
  2. Showers developing behind this rain band will be interesting to see if it kicks off later.
  3. Think radar is broken, rainfall rates shown are much lower than actual, I can see sheets of rain to my south and the radar is hardly picking it up.
  4. Just seen there's an early warning out for torrential downpours on Wednesday around here!
  5. @ajpoolshark, sorry to go off topic but I really want to help Gordon, I have my anxieties and the best way I tend to get over stuff (and it's what most people that help with this kind of thing recommend too) is to go out there and experience it. I have to agree with @Flash bang flash bang etc here, but Gordon I really don't mind you being afraid of them, but please try and not continuously post on the forum about it as it does start to turn the thread into a bit of a mish mash, I hope people understand where I'm coming from. Anyway, back on topic, very cloudy here today with no sign of any torrential downpours though not really expecting anything myself. Having said that, just looked at @BrickFielder's post and may chase today, what do you think, @BrickFielder?
  6. Oh, I've experienced thunderstorms big time recently (2014), I'm not taking it out on you, not sure where you got that from? Just listen to people's advice and experience these wonderful thunderstorms.
  7. @Gordon Webb, tbh no offence but I am really getting fed up of all this "I hope I'm north, east, south, west of the risk", you need to experience these thunderstorms, please take advice and act on it.
  8. Well, didn't get any lightning yesterday somehow, but the intensity of that downpour yesterday was quite historical, we certainly haven't experienced rain like that for quite a while.
  9. Don't agree, when you get a torrential downpour causing flooding very quickly then no.
  10. Not a bust, but it wasn't exactly as forecast was it? We seem to forecast very over the top here.
  11. You don't have much risk today looking at the current conditions.
  12. Lovely convection setting off here! https://video.nest.com/live/OIJL3I Noticing that most showers round here seems to be developing very quickly but not necessarily dying quickly either, good stuff!
  13. Interesting, do you know why even though we had biblical rainfall, there was no lightning here? Just been out for a walk down the local river, incredibly humid but convection seems to be capping round here even though earlier it was awesome!
  14. Tell you what, that torrential downpour has completely removed my thunderstorm hunger, that was good enough without!
  15. Holy smokes! Just had an extremely intense torrential downpour! I have not seen rain that heavy in a long, long time! Surprisingly, there was no lightning but I expect conditions aren't right for lightning today.
  16. Convection really kicking off here! Just had a torrential downpour and looks like there's more to come! Just shows, when you don't expect it it comes!
  17. Looks like it'll just be another bog standard day for the SW of England today...
  18. Quite humid here to say it's cloudy so yes possibly more chance here today.
  19. Hmm, that's strange, there should be more CAPE shown here as it's expected to be insane tomorrow. In other news, just had a massive black based Cumulus Congestus cloud go over, went very dark and calm and then suddenly very humid as the wind shifted from SE to SW but no rain! Ah, looks like a shower developed just north of here, what a surprise!
  20. Just got back home, drove through the edge of those torrential downpours NW of here, however there was no lightning, very strange...
  21. Just parked up near Tiverton, nice torrential downpour to the SW but not within driving reach.
