  3. More thunder potential on it's way on Wednesday Night. Must not get excited...

  4. This year's flying by! Nearly Autumn now! :O

  5. My favourite cloud made an appearence tonight! Good old Altocumulus Castellanus cloud! Hoping to see more of it especially later on next week!

good to see you posting :)

  7. Dry thunderstorms forecast for this area tonight, looks quite likely!

    1. Nick L

      Nick L

Dry thunderstorms are pretty much confined to dry environments like deserts or arid areas. Elevated storms are possible, yes, but certainly not dry thunderstorms.

    2. lassie23

got more chance of dry rain

    3. Spikecollie

I experienced one in the Mohave Desert, years ago. A very weird experience. It was not elevated, it had regular CG strikes but absolutely no precip. - because there was no moisture, I assume.

  8. Really don't think anyone should discount this area tonight, I can already see growing CB's to the SW with Ac Cas cloud streaming in from the SW on satellite.

  9. Weird to think I'll be classed as an adult tomorrow, I'm far from one in many ways...

  10. Now it really is too hot...

  11. Will we or won't we be waking up to AC CAS?! :D

  12. Such a beautfiul evening here, don't you think? :) https://video.nest.com/live/OIJL3I

  13. Come on Ac Cas cloud where are you?!

  14. Bahhh, no thunderstorms for here then, may as well enjoy this pointless heat whilst it lasts!

    1. wimblettben

I agree it certainly is pointless.

I would much prefer dry heat then this horrible humid stuff due to awful nights sleeping and barely being able to do anything outside as its so uncomfortable.

The only time its worth it is if it brings a higher chance of natures fireworks (thunder and lightning.)

    2. Dami

      nothing for me either \o/

  15. These Convective Weather forecast have not made me a happy bunny this morning, but I think it'll end up being forecast as a moderate risk here and severe further north. Come on we have to get something!

    2. Stuart

yes it look like more northern areas that will do me fine :)

    3. beerandkebab

it's always been further west and north.....nothing has been forecasted for southern england at any stage over the past few days for tues/wed

    4. MP-R

I must say that the 850hPa charts, which are still my favourite, haven't correlated with where the storms are forecast very well. They've shown very nicely the trough crossing the SW, yet activity being well north. However, I'm not disappointed as I've now learnt not to expect anything haha.

  16. Still mid 20's across the area at this time! Sleeping's going to be an interesting challenge!

Good thinking Will ! Going to be 25 here at 11pm tues night and probs 20 at the lowest all night, fan a grand idea..

    3. Spikecollie

Ditch the duvet and sleep under a sheet! My neighbours and I are still outside, they're finishing their meal. I had mine outside too - I was good and declined their offer of sharing what is obviously going to be a lot of wine!. There are a lot of insects though, mosquitoes and midges mainly, but I got three horsefly bites while mowing this afternoon and they are really uncomfortable. Antihistamine tablet and cream have made a minor impact and I'm using the "bite zapper" on them - have you seen them, they deliver a little electric discharge over the bite which confuses the pain sensors and stops the itching and burning.

I can't sleep with a fan on, I like a quiet bedroom - but the odd noisy interruption when hubby arrives will be just fine :girl_devil: I'm in a naughty mood tonight...

    4. Blade

lol guys here in lisbon we had 2 lows of 24ºc and 36ºc max and I still sleep well

  17. So, the BBC now thinks we're going to get thunderstorms on my birthday not on Tuesday! Sweet! :D

I only hope its gone before this plume pattern gets a chance to wreck our autumn and winter.  Again

Got a sea breeze now so not too bad, the Dew Point is rediculous though.

    4. Spikecollie

30c here and only 49% humidity - what I would call a perfect day. Not a cloud in the sky, either. I'm going to mow the lawn rather than leave it until Tuesday when it will be even hotter with higher humidity.

  19. Had a brilliant birthday party this evening! Went karting at Raceworld and then went out for a meal at The Diggers Rest! Very tiring but fun! :D

    1. lassie23

I went karting once and crashed into a wall

Well, it was my first time and I didn't, be careful. :p

  20. Woah, temperature forecasts are a bit off, if they're thinking 32 it could be close to 35 on Tuesday!

Hope a northerly sets in asap otherwise london will turn into smog

    3. Spikecollie

Seriously, my hubby will be traumatised if there is a repeat of that event last year, however amazing it was to experience. We had car and house roof damage, and I'd rather he didn't have the same experience again, alone. I'll be there with him from Thursday and we're coming back here on Monday...then we can share whatever the rest of the summer brings together.

    4. Costa Del Fal

      Costa Del Fal

Hope it is not the same as last year in that respect then Spikecollie. No one wants or needs damage. Having natures power at a safe distance is always best but of course, mother nature will always decide on that one. Lots to look forward to though and hope you enjoy the rest of the summer together. :)

  21. The takeover of events on BBC News is getting so bad that I can't find a weather forecast for the past 2 hours!

    1. Nick L

      Nick L

Fingers crossed the weather will get in a huff and become the news itself. Come on big storms.

  22. This upcoming thundery spell is making me particularly interested and slightly excited earlier than normal, there's just something about that low position that makes me think Devon will be slammed to shreds! :p

    1. lassie23

      What thundery spell?

    2. MP-R

Try and contain the excitement until at least Sunday night.

  23. An MCS for my birthday may not be a dream anymore...

    1. lassie23

I'd rather have presents and a big cake.

  24. On the chat room thread, it says you can post your thoughts etc. on the thread, but you can't! :(

    1. lassie23

      There's a chatroom thread?

    2. Paul

There was a permissions problem, should be fixed now.

    3. Dami
