  1. Moderate snow here just now giving a slight covering The radar looks a little bit better now.
  2. That wee room is exactly the place that I would stick the nuggets on the mod thread in until winter is over
  3. Aarrghhh why is living in Scotland so unfair blue skies and 7c almost spring like Then i look in on the south east thread and it's all about snow.and in a few months it will be all about heatwaves droughts severe thunder storms . Catch i wouldn't bother about Italy just go down sarf and buy yourself a 1 bedroom ex council house for your 1.7 mill and enjoy all the weather extremes
  4. Maybe a question for the slightly more seasoned people on this forum. One of the biggest snowfalls I've witnessed was in march either 86or 87 I'll always remember it for 2 reasons 1. It started snowing on the Saturday the day after the townsend torresen ferry sunk off zeebrugge 2.after almost 24 hrs of snow it turned to drizzle and with the wet snow on all the trees i remember standing at the back door of my uncles house and listening to all the branches and trees snapping every other minute unbelievable I've never witnessed anything like it since. I was just wondering if this may have been just a local micro climate event or a more widespread event my memory is getting a bit cloudy
  5. Awe does it not give you a warm fuzzy feeling seeing the excitement over the possibility of a few snowflakes in the south east of England. Reminds me of watching my children in the run up to Christmas
  6. Just like any other company when you lose a big contract (and a lot of money) it's usually the beginning of a slippery slope . When things like this happen bad luck seems to follow .like maybe a flood or a fire breaks out? I hope they have a good insurance policy. Certainly over the last couple of weeks the met office haven't covered themselves in glory
  7. I didn't realize we had someone on here that works as a bbc weather presenter
  8. Ahhh drizzle how i missed you Seriously what a week this has been I've only been a member on netweather since 2013 and I've never witnessed this thread buzzing like it has this week. absolutely brilliant with the commentary and the photos and of course the Scottish banter. Hopefully it will be the same again in 2 weeks time .I'm going back to work now to get some much needed rest
  9. -6.1c just now which I'm quite surprised at seeing as there's 17cm of lovely squeaky snow on the ground and the temp was already -4 at 4 o'clock this afternoon
  10. Another bleak mid winter day here in the trossachs ( well if your a mildie) Snow has been on and off all morning 5cm on top of half inch of ice from last night bringing the total back up to 15cm on the ground again . It really has been a great winter's week. I noticed they we're talking about avalanches in the alps next week obviously it's the Arrochar one's
  11. Nicola sturgeon William wallace andy murry juddy murry jamie murry @Mr Frost wee tam and big shuggie ( Stirling council's finest bin men) your cold and snow is going to take one helluva beating
  12. I've never managed to work out why cold weather forecast is greeted with the national disater tone that the presenters put on. I really dont think it's the minority of people who want it judging by the amount of people on netweather and other weather websites. Take last night's weather for the week ahead i thought the presenter was going to do a Norwegian commentator back in the 80s against england impression explaining that the mild weather is coming back next week.
  13. O.k then who is it that wound up the dark side on the model thread yesterday because they've gone and put a sexual intercourse curse on the snaw tonight
  14. Note to self Always go into the regional thread first I've just caught up with all the downgrades in the mod thread then watched countryfile 5 day forecast and then popped in here. Certainly doesn't look like bog standard winter weather this week .snow beginning in about 12 hours let the good times roll
  15. Evening all Just dropping in from the scottyland thread and i see you guy's are the same as we are with the will it or won't it snow . I've got no doubt that we will get pasted in the next few days myonly concern is will it b 1-3 inches of snow or 3-6 N.W.S i thought your boss had caught you checking the latest model runs at work Hope you get posting again soon in the model thread ?
  16. I'm sure it's to do with the potential for having a hissy fit when your area is under an Amber warning for snaw and it all slides south .I remember seeing a similar chart in early December
  17. Last night the beeb were showing 7c for my location on Monday today it's 5c i think 3c will be closer on the day As they say in the mod thread the trend is our friend
  18. The trossachs is the place to be next week. especially right in the middle of loch lomand and the trossachs national park . There's got to be some upside to 4 months of warm drizzle and midges in the summer
  19. Looking at the charts for next week it looks like the pattern is the same as what we had most of the summer and the saying that really became a major pain in the back passage the dreaded north/west south/east split oh well it is what it is
  20. Latest model runs are out and it looks like winter is definitely over well after sat/sun /mon/ tue/severe frosts and probable ice days Wednesday possible snow event then a cold polar maritime flow which is always a terrible direction for snow here in scotty land . It's just not fair why do we never get an easterly wah wah wah
  21. I don't think it is a bold prediction . On average in a british winter there's probably a wind storm every 2 weeks
