  1. Looking at how it currently stands, today is definitely rain, maybe a little sleet at times, Sunday has the possibility for a little snow but not enough to settle. It's also generally too warm for any settled snow to remain. As we know however, things can change quickly so this will be nowcasting weekend!
  2. The old man opposite me has just come over to say he's expecting snow tonight. He is Never wrong, he's one of those people who prepares his car and driveway just in case he needs to go out somewhere.
  3. Not only is there a MetO alert for wind/rain/snow, but also a "Winter preparedness and action" alert for our region.
  4. Heathrow is cancelling 20% of flights between 4pm and 6pm today due to the likelihood of lightning causing disruption.
  5. I used to play cricket on Sparrows Den when I was at school at Greenhayes which used to be on the top of Corkscrew Hill before it closed!
  6. What do people make of the 2 waves of rain coming in on the radar? They are forming into very straight lines.
  7. They would likely not upgrade to amber until they are sure, and closer to the time. As we saw for Wales yesterday, the red was issued in the morning.Mal
  8. Wind has really picked up again in the last 10 mins. And oh my the rain! Squall line? House is shaking, and it's quite big and sturdy!
  9. No, it;s the stop the incoming tide flooding London... It's been extremely effective in stopping 1/3 of London going under water before!!
  10. Possibly a slight over reaction, the school, and Local Authority will be making decisions based on this, so try and relax Mal
  11. Really interesting BBC video here from a helicopter flying over the Thames http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-26146361
  12. Just took a walk from Surbiton to Kingston along with riverside. Anyone familiar with it will know the upper footpath is quite above the river normally. Well today the lower path is not there at all, the water is lapping against the upper path, and as you get towards Kingston you need to walk on the pavement. John Lewis have installed some metal flood defences and the river is over the road there.
  13. This is crazy! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-26102776 100s of people flocked to Porthleven to watch the waves. Police had to close the road at one point!
