  1. This man will be able to tell you if it going to be a good summer. But unlike Madden he does not advertise his skills
  2. If you can get your GF to swim in the North Sea in spring in a bikini, the weather will get the message and grant us a hot summer
  3. Madden was actually spot on about this winter being one of the worst on record. Just not in the way he expected. Not a single snow drop here.
  4. I think the only ones who got this winter correct was Accuweather
  5. If February If February is like January. I hope that will be a nail in the coffin that should have been closed a long time ago. Only good thing I guess is that my relatives think I am some kind of mystic for always proving the newspapers wrong everytime. So I should be grateful for that.
  6. I second that. I actually visited his facebook page and noticed there is a cult thing going on there. Not one of his followers defends his ability, just defends his passion for the weather. Well one of my dogs has a passion for chewing loose tree bark. I guess my dog is a forestry expert. I will predict -80c vostok research station low for East Anglia in February. I will also pedict a Congo +50c scorcher for East Anglia in August. That is passion. Is it realistic no. Infact much to my annoyance. I am only expecting one frost here in January and will it snow on that day? No its a clear sky. About one and half weeks away. As for February. The first half will be just like January. Quote me if I am wrong later
  7. I thought it was you with a Molotov Cocktail outside Mcdonalds that day
  8. Liked: Summer. Was nice and warm. Disliked: November and December.Far too mild, stormy and miserable in general. Indifferent: Spring and Autumb in general, because I only like summer and winter.
  9. High today was 8c. 6.5c now. Low will be 3c. For Christmas eve 10c predicted high and 6c low Sorry. Misunderstood. Thought you were asking me.
  10. Hmm. Maybe I am missing something, but I can't see any snow even falling let alone staying on the ground in between now and New Years for East Anglia. In fact. I think I will be celebrating Christmas and New Years like those in Australia will be, in a T-shirt and Shorts. May even bring the BBQ down from the loft and have some cold beers on the Beach.
  11. For me its: Max 6c, Min 2c. Sun showers. Then on Boxing Day the temperature remains the same, but cloudy and windy. Later zombies begin appearing slowly and aimlessly wondering around and bin bags flying around all over the area with contents that should have been recycled.
  12. I know this is slightly off topic, but a great documentary about living alone in Siberian wilderness for 70 years. Lots of snow and it was filmed in winter. Maybe it will inspire the weather. I think it is a great example of how someone can survive alone in the wilderness. I am quiet rural myself, in that I brew and distill my own spirits. I also keep dogs and chickens and installed a stainless steel chimney and woods stove myself so burning a lot of cut timber from my own diy projects. When I move to a farm I plan to keep a herd of bison. Plan to move somewhere more remote within a few years. A large abandoned farm sounds ideal so I can renovate it. When I bought my place it was in worse condition than a crack house with holes in walls and broken windows. Walls and ceiling made of asbestos. Now it is close to looking better than many of the houses in the area. But watching this documentary is like watching a hardcore element of Ray Meirs and Bear Grylles with a hint of religious studies thrown in for free. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tt2AYafET68
  13. Well. Here is something I noticed myself that is not scientific. When there is a cold winter approaching, I have been able to smell a scent from some of my trees usually around October or November. When it is going to be a mild winter, I don't smell anything from them that year. This year I noticed the scent late November. So guessing that indicates a late start. My Apple Tree BTW still has green leaves on it. Now I don't really believe in my own method, because even the trees can get it wrong. But I am wondering if there will be a severe (not just below average) cold spell for a couple of weeks later in January or early February? If there are not at least a couple of weeks of extreme cold with hopefully heavy snow, late in the season I can only blame my trees for lying to me and so far from what I recall they have not been wrong in their scents.
  14. I wonder odds bookmakers are giving for a White Christmas?
  15. London on December 25 2013. Christmas lights out because the snow brought down power lines
  16. I was hoping for a cold and snowy December. I was born in St Petersburg Russia (then called Leningrad) and left when I was very young. The only memory I have of a proper White Christmas is from then. A thin covering of snow in the garden just does not do it for me, but its better than nothing. I like extreme winter and summer. I tend to prefer cold and snow early rather than late. I will be hoping for cold and snow up until about mid February. Everything after that just makes me feel winter has passed and spring is on the way, so I begin start looking forward to summer at the end of February. I'm not very experienced, but going on what I've read here and tried to understand from charts, I don't really hold much hope for December. I expect January will be colder than average, but not much snowfall. February too far ahead for me to predict.
  17. Looks like I am going to have to explain getting drunk and telling everyone that I called off the storm by threatening the Goddess Hera. I am not sure what will happen in the next hour before high tide. All I know is a lot of relatives are going to be mad tomorrow. I said I was proud to be Waffen SS, having Allied relatives, I expect som e diss tomrorrow.
  18. Could you please post a link where it mentions the Jaywick evacuation. I only heard earlier this morning that it was a possibility.
  19. I woke up with the Environment Agency making an automated recorded phone call to me this morning, warning of severe flood risk and to prepare for a possible evac. I looked at their weather warning map and being in Jaywick, Essex I am about 1 min walk from the beach. I am well within their severe flood risk area. Lets just hope the defences hold and there is no repeat of 1953.
  20. If I ever get a second house, somewhere that is hot in summer and cold in winter, like Siberia. Will build something like this, never get stuck in snow and rarely replace a wheel and enough space for a bed and office in the back.
  21. North Coast looks warm. Here on East Coast, will probably hit 0c. Perhaps -1c
  22. Personally, I am a snow lover. The more snow and the longer it last the better. Perhaps its in my blood but snow has always been magical for me. I like cold because its needed for snow, but bitter cold without snow is a bit like just staying in a large freezer stacking shelves. I prefer dry frost to constant rain and wind though.
  23. They should sell their boat and get the following No running cost apart from maintenance as everything is solar powered, including heating I guess. Would also be cheaper to convert an existing boat to be solar powered. When I get old, I want something similar to this.
  24. I don't have any gas. I installed a stainless steel chimney, since house did not have chimney. Also installed a woodburner. Was quiet easy DIY. At night I try to hit up to 30c, so by the time I wake up, its about 21c. The stove is enough to heat up entire house. If I closed any internal doors, then main room would get baking. Sometimes during day I leave a small 1kw electric heater on to heat house. Have internal and external wall insulation. Firewood is expensive this year, because I am having to buy seasoned and also log storages, that I can't be asked to make myself. Next year I will buy much cheaper unseasoned firewood and season it outside for next winter. I think the cheapest way to heat a home would be a Thorium Reactor. As a bonus you will have all the free electricity you want and will be selling electricity back to the grid. Thorium reactor can be built small. But I really can't see how council would give planning permission for a mini nuclear power station. Not to mention I am not sure they have any building regulations for it.
