  1. Once high pressure sets in, it's only likely to get even colder, and if a bunch of snow has been dumped many roads could be ice rinks for days!
  2. As this low pressure sweeps in with it's presumably gale force winds, I wouldn't be surprised id we saw some hail/thunder before the weekend. My thougths based on GFS Hail Showers on Thursday accompanied by gusty winds and thunder. ~ Turning to snow over Snowdonia as the day progresses and a sleety showery picture on Friday as the winds turn more Northerly, that theme continuing into the weekend with colder air and more chance of snow to lower levels.. then may'be we could be hit by a low pressure system directly on us for Monday..
  3. I'm in Cardiff, don't have a clue
  4. I was posting, based on what I read on the social radar. the precip type radar shows rain for almost all of South Wales I sometimes go up there to see the railway may'be once every 2 years. would love to go up there during a snow storm or thunderstorm though. It is possible you could get some snow by morning
  5. Yes, I find it hard to believe to.. ~ not so much a glitch with the system. These news feeds are brought in by people on twitter and then are updated to netweather "social" section on the netweather radar. ~ Blaenavon looks amazing in the snow!
  6. sometimes i'm looking at the street lamp in Blackwood, and seeing times when the rain is falling as sleet! So i'm not giving up just yet Edit ~ report coming in from Netweather Radar, that it's snowing at CF71 ~ Cowbridge
  7. I stayed up for the snow, till about 5:30. ~ It didn't take long at all for it to stick about 5mins, ~ within an hour.. car tracks that had been going over the snow were being covered within about 10mins.. and eventually only the lorries were able to indent their tyres into the snow enough you could see the road. Not a good recipe for driving on any hills! ~
  8. Well, can't say I didn't try.. but I missed both lightning bolts.. but managed to capture one thunder on this video.. of a hailstorm that just hit 10-15mins ago! Atlantic storm, give me a 2nd chance I'll get you http://youtu.be/U3YTn_3N2F4
  9. Well according to BBC Wales.. a mini tornado damaged 24 peoples homes.. ~ personally anyone that witnessed that probably wouldn't consider it mini at all.. ~ So I refuse to define.. as I guess that's perception
  10. I'm thinking the tail end of this Atlantic storm could bring more mini tornadoes, severe hail storms and some more thundersnow? I was thinking, ~ .. I wonder what a snownado looks like after hearing the reports of a tornado in Pembrokshire the other day amongst the thundersnow-storms!?
  11. Well 9th October has to be the best ever October thunder day i've witnessed! Thundering from early morning.. showers until midday, then a whole line of thundery downpours 4-5 hours Last thunderstorm bringing about 8 rolls of thunder. Having said all that, I didn't see much lightning, may'be 3-5 flickers among st the 25-30 claps of thunder! 8th October, am I right in thinking I heard thunder on that day to ? Looking at the GFS, no sign of non-convective settled weather for at least another 48-72 hours ! 2014 !!! Has been the best year ever for thunderstorms!! ~ For the last 3-4 years the whole whether has given us huge doses of one type of weather, this year we had both heat and storms. ~ Last year rain and wind.. and before that a very nice episode of snowy weather!! This entire autumn has been like our usual thundery Augusts! ~ Roll on 10th October!
  12. Just saw some very distant spider lightning ! (From Chepstow I believe)
  13. I think that the storm is dying, but no, another one or three just randomly pops up..
  14. Flashes from the Heads of the valleystorm, and flashes from the storm South of Cardiff can be seen ~ don't think iv'e seen any flashes from big Daddy CG storm yet
  15. Iv'e seen about 20-25 flashes tonight.. 1 of which nearly blinded me.. and another where I saw the CG spark
  16. CG detector losing the plot! ~ Think I should look for some sparks in the mountains
  17. Lots of strikes coming from this S/SW Border storm ~ click detector going mad. ~ A couple of strikes appearing close to London.. loose cannons(?) or a dry cell?
  18. Well, it shouldn't be long that I and others from S Wales Valleys can see the flashes. ~ Perfect night storm! It's one of those nights, that these storms could survive the night! Torrential echoes showing up suddenly just South of Cardiff
  19. Developing over France, ~ they're developing over here to! A nice line of showers and some awesome thunderstorm!
  20. Nice line of thunderstorms developing, they are all heading for Plymouth ! Some people may get woken by a very early alarm clock!

  23. Stormed Just rumbling through the Southern part of the South Wales valleys toward Cardiff and Newport! quite a few sparks and Bin rolling sounds
  24. and so I was mindlessly playing away at Elder Scrolls.. when I heard a bin.. being moved... but then I though... that bin.. is going on a long journey 0,o .. so I looked out my window.. and to my East some slightly thundery looking clouds.. then I looked to my West and thought.. hmmm nothing here.. Then I looked to my far North.. and thought Wooow that's dark!!! Then I came to the NW Extra Radar.. and thought Woah!!! A storm day !! :D This quite a surprise... ~ and it's so early in the day !! It must have been a rogue thunder. Sky to north
  25. Netweather radar shows it West Coast of Wales. (Aberystwyth) Is that a squall line in West Wales, very very unusual looking squall.. in an S shape :/
