  1. I have a feeling this winter is going to get very interesting, newbie, so not a "pro" however my taking on the models recently suggests to me that we have had a sequence of - Boring nothing weather for a few weeks, then (as we are in now) a wild period, soon to be followed by a potentially blocked two thirds of the winter. Good model watching, to be honest I am not an expert, no idea what will happen, just think these events are highly interesting.
  2. Nobody knows. That is the answer. All this what if this happens, what oif that happens is really amusing. nobody can tell what is going to happen with the weather. I wish people would take heed of this. Look at the "storm" that hit us, 10 days out it was looking like 1987, then when it actually arrived it was no comparison. Lesson learned? I very much doubt it.
  3. It will be rain mate. I very much doubt there is any correlation between the colour of the sky and the type of precipitation. Ah yes, as expected. Rain.
  4. I think that the Met Office have got this bang on, after all they are actually better than most at forecasting, it seems the Daily Mail/Express ramp up the weather due to amateur forecasters, barring the obvious "BBQ Summer" episode, they are after all professional forecasters. I would trust them more than anything else. I normally commute into London, however have the day off tomorrow so eagerly awaiting the storm here!!
  5. Do not understand the feeling here this morning, it is one run, the Met Office are looking to review their warnings this morning so will wait to see what they say about it. I still have hope this will turn in to something rather than be a damp squib.
  6. Hi all followed these forums for the last couple of winters, and have built up some basic knowledge. Decided to come along for the ride this year! Cannot wait for the Winter, hoping for a good few snow days however not in January as my wife is due to give birth then!!! However it snowed on our wedding this March so who know what will happen.
  7. Looking forward to seeing what happens over the next 48 hours, I remember 1987, was living in South East London at the time and hoping the damage is not as severe, however cannot remember when we last had such a significant wind storm. Hopefully every one will stay safe, and be sensible.
