It's been happening all Spring. Azores high takes weeks struggling to break north, but as soon as it makes it to the UK it quickly gets sucked north to the high latitudes. Impossible to hold onto a mid latitude block at the moment

It's the best month for a UK high though. Temps in low twenties gradually building into mid twenties if the high sticks around, but you still get a good cool down overnight.

Loads of distant thunder to the South. Big storm coming from Stoke don't know if that will make it here though. Entertaining at least

And we'll get mild nights thanks to rainfall keeping the overall average temperatures above average, so the cold fans will be ready to jump on anyone who complains about the weather.

Sad thing we are normally just barely out of reach. Literally just move 200 miles Southeast into France and away from the Northwest coasts you are in a completely different climate most of the time. UK weather is so frustrating it has to be by design. We spend all winter chasing northern blocking then the second northern blocking isn't worth it is the time northern blocking is most likely.

South looking at over half of May's average rainfall in 3 days. There was a nice map on twitter I can't find anymore, but widely showing 30mm+ in the next 3 days. Hosepipe bans are looking more ridiculous by the day.

It's the lack of sun and decent temperature combination that's justifiably annoyed people. The two need to come together. If we had a 10 day sunny spell with temperatures around 16-19C I can guarantee almost everyone would be happy even if it's not 20+ warm. Today is a rare day when the rare above average day itself has not been a shower fest.

First time it's actually felt comfortably warm this year. Hit 20C earlier this afternoon.

Today's been nice at least though still 2C below May average. Take what I can get though.

Again it's the fact that even in the worst Springs we usually have at least one warm spell that gives us a taste of summer, even if for only a day or two, by May. We have had 0, just fluctuating very slightly around the average which is useless if it's accompanied by cloud and rain. My maximum for the year is 18C, 4C above April average. To show how ridiculous that is, that's the equivalent of maxing out at 12C through all of December and January or 25C through all of June and July. I'd guess the latter 2 have never been done before so yes this "Spring" is unprecented in lack of warm spells.

Don't blame you. May/June are the perfect months for a UK high and these are the months that get to me most if we miss out. Add the 9 month winter/autumn we are continuing to go through and it becomes depressing.

Brightened up here now and we have our first 16C of Spring. Managed to stay just north of the showers so far.

Not had a second of sunshine yet. At least it's not cold, but already it's another overhyped warm spell.

Cleared up in the last hour and a half and we finally have an average late Spring day at 15C

I'm legitimately jealous of the spot that's hit 18C. With normal fluctuations around the average of 13-15 it 18C should have been hit at least 10 times in a normal year.

A few breaks in the cloud and we've managed to hit double figures at 10C, making this one of the top 5 days of the Spring so far.

Yes people say it was wasted but imagine going through that 1st lockdown with this year's Spring climate.

Same story as usual, better off going to Greece for snow in winter and Lapland for sun and warmth in summer. Genuinely hate our climate.

It's been like this for weeks and of course it's always turned out to be correct. Another warm settled spell disappears in front of us. Praying GFS has overreacted to a fading signal regarding northern blocking as we finally begin to lose the negative NAM at the surface.

April isn't out yet but Sheffield is in the 130-150% zone for March's rainfall anomaly. It has been wetter and duller than average. Fact.

Above average for most of England and Wales

Just looking at March and the data conflicting with how many of us have felt. It turns out night time minimum temperatures have been inflating the CET. Obviously most people aren't awake to feel the temperature overnight, but the relevant stats, the temperatures we can actually experience when we are awake and out and about, show that we have not been going crazy imagining how rubbish it has been. Compared to the 30 year era we have most recently lived through, maximum temperatures were near or below average for most. But the stats people will remember are a significantly above average CET (+1.4) when compared to an era 70-40 years ago.

Nope would just like my first 16C of the Spring.

I wish Met Office would start using 1981-2010 for CET comparisons. The only thing more depressing than the weather is the constant gaslighting that akshually it's been a mild spring. No it hasn't, it's been cool, damp and miserable. End of.
