  1. It turned out really well in the end , went to Sweden for just over 5 days and 3 1/2 were sunny and warm and 2 were overcast with some light rain in the morning but not enough to ruin things , even swam in the local lake 3 times...
  2. Looks like my optimism on Tuesday has been completely taken away, currently it looks as if i'm gonna be dodging the rain/showers in Sweden next week GUTTED
  3. Great to see the Azores high building into Scandinavia next week, we'll be in Western Sweden between the 20-25th July so hoping for some long warm sunny days, to relax, swim ,soak up the sun and drink lots. Came back from S.E Spain on Sunday night where the temp was around 34c to 2 days of awful drizzly dross
  4. 9.7C and raining , i'm sure xmas day was warmer and drier :-(
  5. No it's definitely in the shade facing north, it's not an official reading obviously i realise but it gives some indication of the temp locally...my garden is the best thing about the house I love it , sun all day from Feb-Oct
  6. I know it's not an official reading but the temperature in the shade in my back garden was -2.8c last night and 20.1c this afternoon, that's a diurnal range of 22.9c ...pretty impressive. This afternoon felt like summer and it smells like summer outside this evening ...Love it
  7. Currently 15.3c in the shade in my south facing back garden, beautiful
  8. Covering on the ground here earlier , although I didn't see it , it just slushy now though with light rain.
  9. Models predicting another cold North/Northeasterly/easterly spell in about 10 days or so...we shall see.
  10. Sunny Sweeney , country music singer from Texas, she's not only gorgeous she's incredibly talented(new album due out soon). As for the grass i'm sure it'll all look great in a few weeks as will the spotlessly clean BBQ
  11. Took a trip to B&Q this morning bought some weed and feed and BBQ Cleaner amongst other things , well and truly in Spring mode now
  12. I've lived up here since 1989 , prior to that between 61-88 I grew up in Birmingham, the snowfall up here is poor by comparison ,i remember lots of heavy snow in brum
  13. I may be looking back at the past with a distorted recollection, but I remember religiously tuning into 'the weather for farmers/countryfile' on a sunday in the 70/80's for the weekly forecast and planning my week on what they said , I don't really remember them being that wrong in those days. It seems for the all of the advanced technology we're actually no better(if not worse) at forecasting with any accuracy more than 4-5 days in advance.Or was the weather just more predictable back then?
  14. The 12z ECM certainly gives some hope for a longer block
  15. I love the cold(and Snow , which never comes) in winter, but by the time we get to March/April time I've completely changed and long for long warm sunny days all the way through to September(when it's time to head off down to Spain ),Over the past few years April/May have been our best periods for sunshine here in NW England ,there's normally a HP that brings cloud and cold winds to the east coast but by the time it get's over the Pennines it's usually sunny and warm..That's what i'm looking forward to (and a trip to SE Spain in late April). It was noticeable today that it was still light until about 5:20 pm...can't wait for the clocks to go forward.
  16. It's been pretty dire here as well for the past couple of years, April normally delivers some warm dry sunshine but once you get towards the end of may the Atlantic rolls in and our traditional summer rain appears until september
  17. It reached 11.2c here today, very pleasant in the sun.
  18. Just popped outside , sky crystal clear yet i could feel droplets of water on my skin
  19. I'm very much a 'lurker' on these forums ,I've been a member for over 12 years,i tend to read them more in wintertime as i'm pretty much a 'coldie' in winter but i do go through a metamorphosis about march time when i put my summer head on and long for signs of impending heat. I've learned a bit over the years regarding reading the models/signals ,but i still find it quite silly when the 'knowledgable' lot start bickering on the model thread and threatening to ban /report each other because the charts do not show what they want. I used to get taken in by the claims that the 'beast from the east' is on it's way but i've learned that even as near as 48/72 hours away things can change drastically , so i keep my mouth shut. I've been watching the HP develop and the wind veer easterly but i'm still not convinced that it's gonna be anything more than a 3-4 day cold snap with very little snow especially in my neck of the woods, roll on spring
  20. Raining all evening here as usual (spring/summer/autumn/winter)
