Hopefully this cooler weather continues for the rest of the summer. Really pleasant days here at around 15c so very comfortable for working in an office and not sweating all day.
The nights are nice and cool also, in stark contrast to the start of the month which was horrible to sleep in.
Hay fever also has died down in recent days (unbearable a few weeks ago) so long may the wet and cool weather continue.

Must say we are going through a great spell of weather at the minute, nice and cool around 16-18c although would like it a bit cooler.
A welcome change from the sweaty humidity of July.

I think this Autumn will be a continuation of what we have experienced for the last 12 months. I think it will be a warm/hot start to the autumn with temps consistently 20c+ in the south. I think November will be another warm month with temps consistently in the mid teens.

Sweating all day and high pollen counts are not enjoyable experiences. Not to mention the hot and humid nights leading to lack if sleep.

None of those things you mentioned will keep anyone cool, especially when it's 30c hot and humid. Looks like an awful spell of weather is coming up for people who work, hopefully we get some cool and wet weather after the heat wave has passed by the end of the month, There has been above average temperatures for a whole year now.Yes I'm at college actually and fun fact, it's not air conditioned and I have to wear a suit believe it or not. Furthermore, it is entirely possible to keep yourself cool during summer with one of those things known as a fan, cold drink and finding shade.

Some horrible weather being modelled for wed-fri next week for those that have a job.
Not looking forward to it at all.

Humid is certainly not as good an outcome as cool and wet. Some people like to sleep at night.A dreadful, dreadful month it was. I can't wait for Saturday! Hot, humid and thundery - certainly better than this freezing Atlantic crap.

I want cool and wet. But have a feeling it will be hot and humid. We have had above average temperatures since last July.

The run of above average temperatures has been going since last July. Never known anything like it.Certainly nothing cold to come looking at the current models so the remarkable run of above average temperatures that began right back in December is set to continue. So the next 10 days can be best described as dry and warm, becoming unsettled but staying warm.

Can see the mild/very warm weather carrying on. I think we will consistently keep seeing 16-18c in the south east and 14-16 in the midlands for a few more weeks yet. Also mild nights very rarely dropping below the 10c mark in the south.Once Monday's storm clears we start to see pressure rising

UK Outlook for Monday 7 Oct 2013 to Wednesday 16 Oct 2013:The more settled theme will continue into the start of the new working week. Many areas will be dry, with light winds and sometimes large amounts of cloud, but with some sunny spells after any morning fog clears. Northwestern parts are likely to be unsettled and breezy with rain at times, some of which may well be heavy. Daytime temperatures will be close to or just above average, and rather warm in places. However, nights will tend be colder than of late. Through the rest of the week, the unsettled weather in the northwest may push gradually southeastwards across the UK, though the far southeast may remain largely dry and fine. The following week will probably be largely unsettled, particularly in the northwest, with most places having some rain.MetO persisting. Until this changes, this "prolonged" spell being suggested is not guaranteed
Those suggesting the settled spell will last 10+ days are mistaken IMO, we are lucky to get that in July. Its october and things can change very quickly.

Temps look more like 18-20c in the south and 16-18 in the midlands. The charts are over exaggerating things IMO.I would say low to potentially mid 70's F for the south & east and potentially low 20's c for the north and west would be summery by early to mid october standards, the near continent, the azores and southern europe is still very warm and that is where our air will be coming from these are the best charts you could wish for at this stage of the autumn..huge potential with an anticyclone becoming centred to the east enabling a warm flow.

Let's be honest here, there is no way a settled spell will last for 2 weeks in October. I think your getting ahead of yourselves.
-
Looking like a record October then? Never known a late September/early October so consistently warm. We haven't had a properly cool/cold day yet this Autumn.
Can't see Autumn like weather properly coming in until mid November.

Except this isn't fine weather. It's cloudy and humid, the worst type of weather. Here here keep the fine weather going for few more weeks yet

This weather is just awful, sweaty and humid, can't wait for some proper cold weather.

Except for July this year, that certainly lasted a long time, most of July in the end. Anything is possible. The atlantic jet is really powering down. So that block will take quite a lot to shift.
ECM looks great again
I was referring to september, its unheard of in september.
-
I think people are being very optimistic suggesting this settled and very warm spell could last 1 or 2 weeks. Thats pretty much unheard of.
Im awaiting the charts showing the inevitable breakdown after around 4 or 5 days.

These charts will never happen though, that's the problem. The GEFS 06z mean shows rock solid support for a prolonged, very settled and warm spell with lots of sunshine and light winds, the only blot on the horizon is a chance of slightly less settled weather feeding across northern scotland later next week as the main high pressure cell adjusts a little further south but the majority of the BI looks like becoming warm or very warm, locally hot and anticyclonic, and staying that way for the foreseeable future...perfect autumn weather in my book.

Unless i'm mistaken we have had charts showing extended warm/hot spells for at least the last month and none of them have really come to fruition.

So another heatwave then, can't remember a summer so consistently warm as this one. No real cool weather at all and above 20c nearly every day.
Although I do have my doubts about those charts coming off, especially in September.
-
Can't see the hot weather continuing for more than 4/5 days, when have we ever had a nationwide heat wave in September lasting more than a week?
-
Every time I visit this thread we seem to be on the verge of another heat wave/hot spell. Not one has materialised...

Some of these charts are showing multiple weeks of warm weather. Don't you think that's a bit unrealistic at the end of August? When was the last time we had a couple/few weeks straight of warm/settled weather at the end of August/beginning of September?

My main problem with hot weather is hay fever, it makes enjoying the outdoors for a prolonged period of time impossible
