Hi everyone. Slightly alarmed to read all this doom and gloom talk this morning. Can anyone offer a glimmer of hope beyond next weekend? Whole of my family are in Cornwall for the week and feel like from reading the forums this morning we’re going to spend most of our time battening down the hatches and staring into the abyss!! Is this a LP that’s going to stall over us or can we at least take some hope that it will rattle through and we have Sunshine and showers? (Or better still it heads a bit further north and we may get some Azores ridging)

Hundreds of thousands of people will be packing for Boardmasters, Boomtown and various other festivals next weekend too.

I think the continual accusation of guilt tripping requires qualification because in the past I have been accused of it. And as I have repeatable said I have no problem whatsoever with people liking extremes of weather, ( I have probably experienced these more than most), But for a few who are of this inclination it seems to necessitate posting copious amounts of insensitive drivel which quite a few, including myself , find offensive. It is that that is the problem and apart from anything else it makes the thread(s) unreadable.

Bear in mind the mods have been very busy deleting posts (thanks mods ☺️) but many of us see those posts before they are deleted. It's not about singling anyone out but rather keeping the atmosphere welcoming for all types of opinions.

  4. Just popping out of longtime lurk-mode as I have to point out...

The only reason this forum is so popular is because our weather has so much personality - how many of you would be coming here if we were guaranteed a calm 20C every day of the year?

So regardless of how much anyone moans, there is simple no stopping the British weather and it will do what it does regardless - heat, cold, drought, floods or relentless grey. Deaths supposedly due to heat in this country are due to infrastructure, people and politics and that's also where the solution lies.  From January to December we never really know what we're going to get but we do know that at some points the conditions will be harder to manage than others. No one knows this better than farmers (which is why many of them now grow indoors in controlled environments).

So I don't think anyone minds people moaning or disagreeing about the heat, but do thinks it's crossing the line implying that those who enjoy our inevitable hotter conditions, are somehow selfishly wishing death and suffering on people. It would be nice if people were a little more tolerant of other's weather preferences.. especially on a weather discussion forum.

Silly question I know, but has anyone got a linkie to a streaming webcam in the area, including Turks and Caicos? I can't find a thing, but I have a real blind spot when it comes to finding them. Left to my own devices I usually find one that updates once a fortnight... sigh...

You could try Facebook's live map. There's some pretty severe conditions being broadcast from various places in Puerto Rico atm.
