Storms and convective discussion - 1st April 2021 onwards
Dale Hay replied to Supacell's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
Looking north towards/over Lechlade. -
This storm was named by the Portuguese Met Service, who have a different list of names to the one we use in the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Netherlands. (*ping @Jo Farrow* Referring to the end of the first paragraph "More later on why this is 'J' not 'C' for the storm name after Boxing Day Bella.", shouldn't the 'C' be 'D' as we've already had Storm Christoph?)

That latter forecast from yesterday for this morning pretty much matches this mornings reading. EGVA 290742Z AUTO 00000KT 9999 SCT015 BKN055 00/00 A2913 RMK AO2 SNE0656UPB0656E09UPB11E13SNB13E41 SLP872 $ Snow started 6:29am (time from the second-previous reading) and ended 6:56am. Then started back up at 7:11am until 7:41am.

Yet another that's bypassed me but is heading north (picture taken in the direction of RAF Fairford.) -

Well... erm... I've had to rotate the image I had taken from the top of that main Cb, all I'll say is "it's given me flashbacks to an ex from many years back." -

The camera doesn't do justice, but that Cb at the back is proper tall, like tall as in "is a farts-distance away from the ISS." Wow. -

It's looking pretty from my location looking towards RAF Fairford direction. All is travelling north. Cor blimey, it's a squirrel (or a rabbit) eating a nut. -

Not really one to sound like 'that guy', bud, but do remember that models are lacking in a fair lot of data whilst the pandemic is still on-going. I was 'storm-dry' for a couple of years (back when all was fine) and even though warnings were in place, etc. I just passed it off as "oh well, maybe another day", then just like waiting for a bus, loads came along. The 'will it, won't it' thing is the best part of the weather. Chin up and fingers crossed you'll get something soon. *passes you a pint* #keepSmiling -

Some lovely loud and 'deep' rolling rumbles from that Swindon cell that's recently appeared from nowhere on the radar. Lovely way to start the morning. Gimme more! -

+CG's are the ones I absolutely love - I enjoy them because of their sound, but also because (especially when it's at night) The Mother absolutely craps herself, it's so so funny. She's fine with them during the day, but during the hours-of-darkness she doesn't like them. -

Level 1, yeah I'll happily take that - I'm still buzzing from Tuesday's storm. -

I'm back from venturing out to the field to embrace the storm and wow. Drenched is not the word... my t-shirt and joggers and trainers are soaked right through. I could barely see 2 metres in front of me for the curtain of rain and it was hammering it down so hard that the rain felt like hail (even though it wasn't). The roads and some paths here are rivers, the local boozer are sweeping out water from the inside (even though they're on the top of a hill). The thunder was awesome to hear, sadly because of the 'curtain of rain', I couldn't properly see the lightning - like I saw flashes, but nothing fork-like. Certainly was impressed with that. -

Four really 'deep' rumbles here. That's my cue to venture out. Stay safe folks. -
