  1. SunnyG So do I - it's my very worst kind of weather and it's been absolutely relentless down here on the south coast. It's just so unpleasant to be outdoors in the wind.
  2. When will this rain ever stop??? Started in earnest around 4pm yesterday and still going strong!
  3. Please, please could we have an improvement instead of this never-ending greyness! It is utterly depressing. I keep thinking I will get going with jobs in the garden, but it's just too chilly and dull.
  4. What a perfectly awful day! Nearly 10 am and still not really light! When are we going to get some sunny, frosty mornings? My poor garden is waterlogged, the shrubs and other plants drooping and to cap it all, the pesky squirrels have dug up most of my lovely (expensive) spring bulbs! At least if it was properly cold, they would be frozen into the earth!
  5. I LOVE the 3.30 am sunrises in June - best time of the year! I hate darkness in any shape or form.
  6. We are forecast another horribly wet and windy day for Christmas Day - again! I so wish it would be cold, sunny and frosty, but we just seem to fall into the rain/wind/dull/warm scenario every single year. Fed up with it!
  7. From today, the nights are officially drawing out at last! We start the long journey to June!
  8. We've bottomed out the early sunsets at last. It will get no worse than today and in a few days the nights will start drawing out! Still another 12 minutes to lose in the mornings though!
  9. Today was dire here - don't think it got properly light all day! But I agree with others, not long now until the shortest day, and even though January and February are generally miserable, it gets better every single day in terms of day length. It won't be long!
  10. What a horrible, miserable day! I thought this morning that I wish I could just hibernate now until the end of February! Actually I don't really mind the days after the shortest day that much - at least it is getting better every single day!
  11. I felt really chilly at lunchtime today, so yes, on it went for about an hour.
  12. Everyone has their preferences. Personally, I wouldn't mind if it was light even earlier in the mornings in the summer. I hate, hate, hate the dark mornings - they are awful now and we still have another 2.5 months of it getting worse!
  13. Just checked - the clocks go back on Sunday 29th, not Sunday 22nd.
  14. Hey, we are getting through dismal autumn with lovely weather up until now! Only 8 weeks or so until the shortest day, and then everything begins to get better!!! Cannot wait.
  15. Here - at the moment! A beautiful morning.
  16. This time of the year makes me feel very melancholy - I hate to see all the lovely summer flowers dying off, the leaves starting to turn, and everything shutting down for the long winter ahead. I definitely feel more sluggish as the mornings and evenings get darker and darker - ugh! I don't like it! Much as I dislike October, November and December, I am a bit different from others in that I actually don't mind once we get to January as the days are gradually lengthening and you know there are better times to come!
  17. It's been a beautiful evening here today - so warm and sunny. I fear that is the last until next April/May though!
  18. Today was the first I have thought about countdown to the shortest day! I detest the fact that the mornings are getting so dark and although I sat in the garden this evening, the sun angle has gone down to what it was in early April. I hate it so much!
  19. I was VERY tempted to put the heating on earlier - managed to resist!
  20. Torrential rain here, and just to add to the joy, a loud rumble of thunder just occurred!
  21. At last! A beautiful summer's day. It makes you realise just what we have been missing this 'summer'. Absolutely glorious!
  22. The worst thing here is the relentless strong gusty wind. It never stops.
  23. I can't quite believe it! It was supposed to be a fine, warm end to August, but now looks like rain, rain, more rain and so chilly!!! My husband says I am being pessimistic because i asked him to put away the sun parasol!
  24. I think a lot of people are going to find it very hard-going this coming autumn/winter, having to put up with the depleted light levels, coupled with the fact that we just haven't had a chance to enjoy the benefits of sunshine this year, especially topping up the Vitamin D.
