Please don't feed the trolls!!! Over the 10(!) years Netweather has been online people have more often than not used lines about writing off winter at ridiculously early points as some sort of attention or assurance seeking mechanism - please don't give it to them and then they may stop. Everyone knows this type of thing is a silly comment to make at this point, so cluttering up the thread with countless replies to it is equally as pointless. -

If you think people are deliberately on the wind-up then report the posts... Fwiw though, it's fairly reasonable to assume that if the temperature is 14c at 11am there's a decent chance of it increasing by early afternoon, the fact it didn't is neither here nor there. I'd also say that this defensive attitude of some in this thread, labelling people as wind up merchants, and of things like exaggeration when they simply have a different opinion is getting really tiresome. -

Actually this isn't correct - the metar report from Glasgow airport was showing 14c at both 11:00 and 12:00 today. But anyway, can we use this thread to discuss the models please. -

Final warning for some (particularly those who have already been pm'd about this sort of thing in the last few weeks...) If you see a post you think is a problem them please report it, responding to it and using the forum to have a go at other members is unacceptable and will lead to people being stopped from posting in any of the model threads. -
We could plug your feed into our NMM models if you'd like - I'll drop you an email about it on Monday

Severe Storm System & Arctic Blast Thursday 5th Onwards
Paul replied to Summer Sun's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
Almost every time there is severe weather in a part of the country, some people who are unaffected choose to come and troll threads discussing the event - to make things clear from here on in, if you want to come in here and create controversy then quite simply you're going to be stopped from doing so. There's no need for it, there's nothing positive being added to the thread by it, and tbh is just smacks of attention seeking. So for those involved in it today, stop now or we'll take steps to stop you creating problems and ruining the discussion for the rest of the members in here.- 628 replies

No problem, I'll close it for you now

It's definitely working fine on that, maybe you have an addon running which is clashing - try switching them off one by one to see if that helps. Also make sure you're using an up to date version of firefox.

Which browser are you using?
-
I would clear your browser cache, that should solve the issue as it's not a widespread problem.

Model Output Discussion - 30th November onwards
Paul replied to Paul's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
Here's the latest forecast for the week ahead with Jo Farrow - a brief but very windy, and cold blast on the way from midweek.. http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=news;storyid=5548;sess= -
It's not model discussion, but to answer your question - there's a big difference between looking for trends at long range and trying to pinpoint specific weather events/outcomes at shorter range.

I think it's a brave person who forecasts anything with any confidence for this weekend, let alone beyond from a from run to run, across the models and between the ensemble suites there's such a range of possible solutions being shown. It's probably one of the most used phrases in here over the years, but it's a good one - more runs are needed... -

At this rate there are going to be several people stopped from posting in here this evening... Please moderate yourselves before it comes to that - posts which have nothing to do with the models, point scoring, accusing people of trolling just because they have a different opinion to you, and posts designed to disrupt rather than add positively to the discussion are all the sorts of things that people need to stop themselves posting...
