ANYWEATHER It looks like the 15 hour slot isn't available currently on the API, the rest is in though. We run the data as soon as it's on there.

AI set to revolutionise weather forecasting?
Paul replied to Derecho's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
An interesting study looking at the major AI models Vs the traditional ones during storm Ciaran. Do AI models produce better weather forecasts than physics-based models? A quantitative evaluation case study of Storm Ciarán WWW.NATURE.COM npj Climate and Atmospheric Science - Do AI models produce better weather forecasts than physics-based models? Richard27 Thanks Richard, we'll definitely continue to monitor and make regular improvements and updates to it across the coming months. Mapantz We identified a possible bug which may have triggered alerts when strikes were on a similar latitude even if they were some way away. That's been resolved now.

Richard27 We've actually been tuning the hail side this afternoon, so it's tightened up a fair bit in the last hour or so - bear in mind that at this time of year it's also going to be picking up soft hail/graupel etc. In terms of doppler style data etc, unfortunately although the radar network is doppler enabled, there is no USA type doppler data available from the Met Office. That may change in the future, but in fairness it's something we've been asking about for years and there don't seem to be any plans to make it available commercially. Mapantz Lol, last I heard you weren't getting notifications at all, it's hard to keep up! I'll log it as a potential bug and see what we can find.

Jo's latest forecast may be of interest - positive signs for some at least.. Dreaming of a Dry, Warm Weekend... Is It Possible? WWW.NETWEATHER.TV The weather patterns are shifting, back to a more usual setup. Rain for the northwest and warmth with something drier for the southeast. Not as windy as last weekend either.

UK Rain Is There Any Sign Of It Ending?
Paul replied to Fen Wolf's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
Fen Wolf The ECMWF (which the BBC use) and various other models have high pressure ridging temporarily north into southern Britain during the second half of next week. Most models agree it'll be quite brief though.. Here are the various ECM model maps for next Friday, including their AI one - all have high pressure playing a bit more of a role than we've seen of late -
When do you predict the first 20°C and 25°C of 2024 will be?

BenW It's almost caught up now, the 9z completed a few minutes ago and the 12z is running currently and should finish in 15 minutes or so
-
There's been a major met office outage, unfortunately. The 21z was the last complete run that was available until around 45 minutes ago. The 3z is just running currently, which is hopefully going to have complete data. The 6z looks like it'll be incomplete, so we'll skip it, and hopefully get the 9z and 12z run straight after, so it should all start to catch up over the next hour or so.

In terms of the radar, all I can see is that you are being sent notifications and that there are no errors reported. It's very difficult to diagnose beyond that, unfortunately.
-
Ok, if you have the PWA installed for the community, the notification permissions will be in that under app settings. If you're just using it on web, it'll be in the browser settings. First port of call, I think would be to double check and potentially reset those, so it can ask again and re-set them. Beyond that, it could be a bug within the community, potentially. I've seen the odd one mentioned on their community over recent months, so I can raise a ticket with them and ask the question, assuming your permissions are all set etc. If you're using the community in the browser, I'd probably also recommend clearing cookies/cache for the site and logging back in again, just to see if it's that.
-
Are you just talking the community at this point, or on the radar too?
-
Mapantz Hello Hello again
-
It doesn't make much sense that they'd suddenly stop, but nothing has been changed in that respect on either the community or the radar since yesterday either. And as I say they are entirely different systems - the community is hosted and managed by Invision themselves on their servers (Amazon cloud based) and the radar is on our servers (Google cloud based).
-
For those interested in the lightning side. Tracking the strikes today, the new Vaisala system has picked up around 40% more strikes than the old Met Office one, so far.
-
I can see in the logs for the radar that we're sending them to 3 devices/browsers on your account and they're all being sent without any errors coming back. As it's the forum and radar you're not getting them from, it is most likely that it's something on your side, as the two are completely separate.
-
The forum and radar are entirely separate set ups. Have you double checked your browser permissions? It may be worth resetting them to 'ask for permission' (or similar) to ensure they're lined up.
