  1. The Met Office have come back about the radar, they're experiencing a network wide issue with it, which they're working to sort. As I type, the data for 1630 just came through, so it may be starting to recover, but I'd not be surprised if it's a bit bumpy for a bit at least.
  2. Mapantz The met office system didn't either, beyond a solitary strike around lunchtime. Whether that's a combined weakness or a combined strength, I'm not too sure, but the boltek-based systems are certainly capable of showing false positives. We are monitoring both systems right now, though, and aren't wedded to sticking with the new one, should it transpire that staying with the meto one is the best route.
  3. Yep, we're not receiving data from the met office currently, unfortunately. We've raised a ticket with them, so hopefully it'll be resolved soon. I suspect it may be a widespread issue as their own website isn't updated beyond 4pm either, the last I saw.
  4. Have you updated to the latest version of the v8 radar @Mapantz? Comparing what it's detecting with the old met office version, it's picking up a lot more strikes, from what i can see.
  5. Snowing here at the moment, it's wet though so only settling briefly/on the grass. On another subject, there's also plenty more rain about, but signs of some improvement at least going into the Easter weekend. @Jo Farrow's video forecast has some more details
  6. Seems to be doing a good job with the cells popping up and down this pm, picking up quite a lot of strikes.
  7. I don't think those sferics were picked up by anything other than blitz, so I don't know if they were legit. It's picked up ones on the devon coast a short while ago fine. We are monitoring and tweaking our internal system as we go though, so will be fine tuning.
  8. WeatherWatchmanG We had a site wide issue for a while there, but it's all resolved now
  9. There was a database error earlier, unfortunately. Teething trouble with the new system.
  10. The Vaisala lightning detection is now live on the V8 radar (including 1-minute updates when lightning is detected in the vicinity), and will be rolled out to other lightning detection on the site in the coming days.
  11. We've added the ECMWF's AI model to the (ever growing) list of models on the global viewer today
  12. We updated the nowcast system today to be available on all three of the standard scales, so it works seamlessly on everything including the precip type display now. Also, this week we'll be updating the lightning. We'll be switching to use the Vaisala lightning data, and as well as using their (fantastic) detection system, we'll also be able to utilise 1 minute updates when there are storms active
  13. Disappointingly, I've not had a meaningful response from the Met Office yet, but it does look like whatever the issue was has been resolved, based on the bits and pieces showing in the region which had no coverage last night. I'll keep an eye on it as the rain moves in later.
  14. Mapantz I'll see if I can get some info from the metoffice as to what's happening.
  15. Mapantz it's all running normally as far as I can see? Edit. Scrub that. Yep does look like a number of radar sites are down.
  16. alan.duckers It's not a guarantee at the moment, from what they're saying to me, they're aiming for it, but I'd not bet my house on them getting it done in that timeframe.
  17. I think a few files may have come in slower than normal, but it's finished now.
  18. We've pushed an update live this morning which should clear the bug which was causing nowcast data to be shown briefly ahead of actual radar updates even if the nowcast option was switched off
  19. I think I've spotted a bug which may cause the behaviour you're describing above @LeeKay/ - we should get that resolved on Monday.
  20. We haven't run the full update as yet, but have been adding new postcodes. Please can you use the contact option through the site and let us know the postcode that's missing, we can then look to get it added for you https://community.netweather.tv/contact/
  21. LeeKay/ When the nowcast is switched off, it shouldn't auto update to use that, it should just update as usual to the latest 'live' radar. Are you seeing something different? Also does clicking the 'latest' button take you to the latest live time or the latest nowcast time? In terms of real time updates of actual radar, that's not possible in the UK at the moment. Once we receive data from the metoffice we process and get in on the screen within around 20 seconds.
  22. Hi Alan, we're just waiting on the latest from the Met Office as to when it'll be re-added to the composite data. They initially said it would be Feb, but obviously, that's been and gone, so we've chased and await a response. I don't know why it's taking so long for them to sort it to be honest - I'll pass on whatever they say as soon as we have it.
  23. Nice update gone live on the V8 radar today - there's now a 'Nowcast' option in the display settings menu, which will automatically update the radar to 'now' every 5 minutes, using the 500m predictive radar. Also, this winter, we introduced a major upgrade to our precipitation type. Upgrading it to 500m resolution, adding a new height mapping to the same resolution and updating a number of the algorithms. including better precipitation rate feedback to take evaporative cooling into account. This is the old one over Scotland last week: And the new one five minutes later:
  24. Our login system has changed today (Wednesday 6th March). You'll need to use your email address and password (or to use social sign-in from the various options available). The option to use your display name and password to log in with is no longer available. If you're having problems logging in, please use the forgotten password link on the login page and the system will email you right away (please allow 10 minutes for the email to arrive though). If you're still having issues or don't receive the email, please contact us via the site, and include your display name and the email address associated with your account in the message: https://community.netweather.tv/contact/
