  1. All good here mate, hope you are too. Yes, I did see we kept missing them (or skirting the edge). I did notice they just went to our west a lot, never realised the difference it would be just in Nantwich! In regards to last night, such a shame a night of thaw ensued. So random that a warm/mild sector appeared to warm the temps up that much, especially overnight. I remember when we had a good fall of snow one November in the mid/late 90s, we had just come back from a school trip in Sheffield over the Pennines (we nearly got stuck in Buxton... but that's another story) got home and there was loads of snow. I remember thinking that I couldn't wait to get out in it the next day knowing that it was night time so shouldn't melt till the morning. Woke up and so much had gone. It wasn't a transition snow either, I remember that much as I recall being shocked that it could have melted so much overnight when in a 'cold' setup. Must have been something similar to last night?
  2. I never would have thought that the snow this morning would be so much. Weirdly Nantwich had considerably more than Crewe so went for a walk round there instead. Some places were untouched with the snow in the trees until midday etc...other places on the walk it had melted in certain areas. Both gave beautiful views.
  3. It's 11:30am now and I'm surprised by the slowness of the thaw. I expected it to disappear in the sun literally instantly...that is happening. But, out of the sun and in frost hollows etc it hasn't started melting yet, which is bonkers. I was expecting it all gone today but could hang about a few days? Especially if we get a cold night tonight?
  4. We had showers most of the evening - according to the radar - but it was really one big one that gave Crewe/S.Cheshire the covering. Lasted about 20 mins and pasted it down. Was SO pretty to watch and see the landscape turn that orange tinge. I'm guessing a lot will melt today but was lovely to see. The warnings for tonight are more for ice really, I'm not expecting anything else from this spell. Let's see what the next one brings?
  5. Exactly!!! I would rather have a few days of a few cms, but all crisp and festive than a slushy snow/rain affair. The cold weather this week gave us a chance of a covering without it melting away in a hurry, this past weekend was our chance for that but sadly it wasn't to be...especially frustrating with that feature now dumping on London. That's why I'm taking a break till the weekend. If a little feature pops up in the interim then it will be a pleasant surprise...otherwise I will just enjoy the frosty nights and chilly days. Will check back in later on in the week. This is why I can't model watch like I used too, I get too frustrated...rather than just enjoying what does, I build up what could happen and then when it doesn't it's a right bummer! haha.
  6. Model/weather fatigue here too. I really hoped the air would be cold enough for something wintry to fall these past few days...sadly any decent precipitation came in the warmest part of the day . I thought that a few days in a cold pool will help with snow, again, I was wrong. After a few beautiful crisp, cold days with be it quite cold night times, it still rained/sleeted. Yes I know it's Crewe but you get yourself hyped up and glued to the radar just in case. Just going to enjoy these festive few days before the milder weekend.
  7. It's definitely moving south....looks like it is snow too. We need it here before temps rise above freezing to get the covering? If the radar keeps up it should be within the hour.
  8. Some more showers making it down the Cheshire Gap after a lull for a few hours. Fingers crossed these are of snow now and not rain/sleet?
  9. I think we were watching the radar together!! haha. We need a more NW tint!
  10. I had come on to say the same. Yes, it could be bone dry BUT jeez, there are many days ahead of unstable artic air...anything is possible. Either way I am happy, I am just buzzing to have proper festive weather for once. So even if it's just very cold and frosty then I'm happy, anything else is a bonus!
  11. Wasn't there a window of time that a Sting jet could form? Are we there yet or has it passed?
  12. I posted about an hour ago with the answer! haha. Peaks between 1-3pm according to the Met O
  13. Just spotted this... Really handy as does an hour by hour 'gust' map. Shows us in the North West have the peak between 1-3pm.
  14. Hey up all. Sorry I missed all the fun of the past few days but literally been out my house for nearly all the time...hence why this little snow feature was a last min surprise. I promised I would help my friend out at her stall at Bollington Light Switch on...and it bloody snowed and looked gorgeous! Proper snow, no slush...Santa even popped in to say Hi. My drive home was less fun as wasn't aware it was worse here than Bollington, the road it took my included a hideous, rural road with no gritting so my poor Campervan was skidding around. Got home to a winter wonderland...only a couple of inches but as it stuck everywhere it looked stunning. Anyways, back in for the ride of the winter...I can see the models are already having some fun and games! haha Hope you are all well.
  15. My sister in law's parents are near Stafford (in the hills) and they just sent this...
  16. I think this has been a big factor in the amount on damage as it's blowing hard in a direction that isn't common, so alleyways etc that normally escape the SW/W/NW gales might now be wind tunnels. I noticed it here as my bedroom faces kinda North and East, so most storms this side of the house is silent...not last night! haha. The noises were hideous last night, going for a check to see if there is any damage in a bit.
  17. Hey up all. Had a busy few days and because nothing of importance was forecast - and milder air was a-coming - I've not been on here... Saw the forecast of snow moving in today and possibly clipping the welsh coast...never expected it to come all this way. Even a few powder flakes would be a nice surprise to end this spell. I know snow wise it's been disappointing on some levels but loved the landscape. Frozen dry, every little stream is frozen locally, took some cool icicles I spotted in nature (near springs etc)...and the 'cold'...oh dear god.... it's Baltic in the wind but loved it. The radar has snow over us so hoping for a few flakes on my route shopping in Nantwich! haha.
  18. @joesnow @CreweCold...looks like a shower about to hit. Looks pretty meaty too.
  19. I know the weather doesn't work this way but if I could push the streamer over to you Day 10 I would. I have had a few good falls here and if you have had none then you can have it! *Sends good thoughts
  20. I was literally going to post the same thing. Genuinely, If I get a ice day with a bit of blowy snow on the ground then I will be happy.
