Morning, I’m new to this thread! I used to post a fair bit in the South East one as I lived in Farnham, Surrey. A year ago we moved 600 miles north to Tullynessle in Aberdeenshire, a gorgeous glen near Alford. We moved for lots of reasons (lost both my parents within a week in 2020) we have always loved Scotland but quite a big factor was the weather! Too hot for us down south and not enough snow!! We have now had lying thick snow on the ground for 10 days, lows of -12, never seen anything like it! We must have had over 30cm in the week.! Forecasts for us show rain tomorrow but possibly back to cold weather by the weekend! I’m still hoping for a white Christmas one way or another!! temp -2.3 dp -2.7

Thanks, that’s really helpful! I have a weather station and on Wundermap I can see there’s one up the hill nest the shooting place, it’s generally 2 degrees lower up there than down here! It’s good to compare! it’s a balmy 1.8 now!!

As a total weather lover but a complete novice when it comes to models/predictions etc can anyone explain how 2 different weather forecasts can be so different and wrong! Temp here is 1.7 at the moment but Netweather is saying -6 going down to -13 later! Met office says -1 now going down to -3 later! thanks

Morning everyone good to see those south of us got some snow yesterday/day before! Day 9 now of snow laying on the ground here! I’m wondering just what will happen if we get the rain forecast on Sunday/Monday there’s a lot of snow to shift!! temp -0.7 dp -2.6

It’s beautiful! Our lovely next door neighbour was up the hill in the tractor clearing snow this morning! The fields look stunning!

It’s been a stunning and incredibly cold day today, It didn’t get above -8! temp now -10.4 any advice on how to post photos when our internet is terrible! It just fails every time !

If you know the track we are the last house on that track, next to the castle! we just love it here!

I’m in Tullynessle, we live in a little glen which always seems at least 2 degrees colder than out of it!!!

Hi Your posts about the roads have been very helpful, thanks! It’s certainly been interesting getting in the car the last couple of days!!!! we live at the end of a farmers track which is very frozen, lots of huge ruts from the tractors which are now frozen!!! We live next to Terpersie Farm if you know that. -9.8 now!

I live in Tullynessle, Alford (moved here a year ago from England!!) ive always been a big weather follower but don’t know much, I only know I love cold weather, love snow and hate really hot weather! ive really enjoyed your posts and especially found the local conditions posts very helpful! temp went down to -10.9 here last night, we live in a glen where it seems to always be 2 degrees lower than other places around here! I’m actually terrified of it snowing now as we are moving to the Highlands of Scotland on the 17th December, god knows what will happen if there’s bad snow!! I’m normally desperate for it!!

Hi all, hope everyone’s ok. it’s that time of the year again! Slight difference this year for me as In 3 weeks I am moving from Farnham, Surrey to Aberdeenshire! As some of you may remember I lost both parents last year and we made the decision to sell up and move where the snow falls!!! We will be a bit east of the Cairngorms so hopefully we will get a fair bit! Unlike all years I’m praying for no snow before we move!! Won’t be an easy journey at the best of times! This forum does remind me what a weird shape it is and how far Surrey covers! When I see someone in Surrey I always think they are near me! I’m on the Surrey/hants border so a long way from some Surrey areas! (Farnham)
