  1. Right so I made it here, M1 was poor visibility and heavy rain from Northampton / junction 15 all the way to present location, where its still raining heavily. Not much in the way of flood water here, luckily, at least the route I took, but, did hit one "puddle" at the side of the road which my vehicle turned into a wall of water as high as the vehicle itself. 4WD saved the day though. Wouldn't want to be out in it at this time though, think the traffic volume helped stop it settling. Thoughts to everyone else braving / caught in this, stay safe. Personally never seen anything like this before at this time of year, such weird weather, strange clouds and lighting. Maybe its just me though.
  2. Hi all Down south at the moment near Milton Keynes, was going to travel up to the Staffs Moorlands, can anyone confirm what its like up there? Is it bad? I have 4x4 truck, but of course it doesn't help if there roads are blocked by traffic / flooded. Appreciate any info - thanks
  3. Well this is the first time in a very long time I've been going out on my gravel bike wearing long sleeve tops throughout most of summer and.... cleaning the bike after almost every ride because its soaked / muddy. Yesterday after work, at least the rain stopped (eventually, it still chucked it down at 5:30pm) and I went out. Cold though. I don't mind the cold personally, as it gets hot climbing the hills here, but, be nice to get at least ONE day where its mid 20s and I don't have to wear all this rain gear. Opened the curtains today and oh yes, its raining.
  4. Up here, it was 13c on Tuesday, chucked it down all day and low cloud hugging the hills. For me, that was bliss, I even went out in it for 1.5 hours (exercise). I am happy with it being nice and cool for now.
  5. Was down south last couple of days, 30c and 29c (car reported temps, probably not accurate). Back here, 27c today, went out on the gravel bike in it at lunch time and it was so hot, even at 500m there wasn't really much wind. Super humid now and thunder has just started to arrive.
  6. Pretty bad up here, electricity out twice, luckily its back, but the wind just dropped to nothing and the storm was around for a while. Sky yellow, like something out of that Fallout game.
  7. The BBC weather is showing some wild gusts on Monday for parts of down south, all day and well into the night / next morning.
  8. I'm down south, but live in that region, 270m asl. Was hoping to get back tonight, but guess thats a no chance? (no main road to my place, back roads). Do you reckon Sunday is a good bet, if its potentially going to snow again next week!
  9. I'll try texting my neighbour tomorrow, see if they can send me some pics too.
  10. Oh wow! Ive got no chance then. Typical we get a nice amount when I'm not there to see it! thanks for the photos.
  11. Hi all, is anyone in the Staffordshire Moorlands high up? Is it bad there? I'm down south since Monday, but live 270m ASL up there (on a 380m ridge, back roads, no main road). I'm assuming I'm better off staying here and not trying to get back? Thanks
  12. Hi @Polar Maritime Thanks for the heads up here. I don't post much, but I do read a lot. I am down south at the moment, with my house above Froghall in the Staffordshire Moorlands (at 270m on a 380m ridge). I'm assuming you are including that area in this warning as well? its about 3 miles south of the Peak District.
  13. Its still snowing here, decent sized flakes coming down now and have been for about 30mins so far. Looking good.
