Well as I'm transferring the Calendar dates onto the new 2009 one, lets have a review of 2008.

Not a bad year overall. There have been some good and bad points.

    Good Points.

    1) Changing jobs to be Civil Enforcement Officer. Yes its not good when cold and wet, but pay is the same as the old office job which stressed me out and I do love the work!
    2) Holiday in New Forest (first week of May). Little did we know, that was as good as the weather was going to get. 23c in New Milton and getting the only suntan of the summer!
    3) Moving house. Stressful, but nicer to be closer to town.
    4) Making new good friends. Clifford and Dave, Stu and James. Good guys all of them

    Bad Points.

    1) My knee was a problem in the Summer, but I have to live with that
    2) The amount of alcohol I was drinking by the summer due to old job. Not a good time.
    3) The failure to stop smoking. It has to go in 2009
    4) The weather. No real summer and no real snow seen in 2008. 2009 must be better!

There we have it. Mixed fortunes. Working tomorrow so will only be out from 11pm onwards.

3_ Chinese symbol meaning lucky. Upper left arm above number 2. Done after I came out of hospital in 2000 after I'd been given 10% of living in intensive care following illness.

Was in work yesterday- having been off sick with a cold last Tuesday, when at lunchtime I went into the toilet and promply threw up solidly for 5 minutes.

Came home from work, and threw up all afternoon and then it started from another area.

Therefore, I am in bed as a type this.

So thats my sickness record out of the window, but no way am I going to work like this.

OK so day splits into 2

Normal daytime, got the ceiling decs up (via Jeremy Kyle and Trisha). Helped Darren's mother (my mother in law) sorted a loft of winter clothing out and charity shop stuff out.

And then had chinese take away. Till 1 hr ago.

And Kieron came over. Our mate Dave over the road has been burgled. Badly. So a lovely day has ended with a mate in pain. In his words he "feels like he's been raped". That not words. His. Poor Dave has lost TV, DVD, Camera, Pixil Camera, his lounge cushions"?!?!!" and his Jaguar sports bag from school. D+C police been round but not a chance of getting anything.

And to copp it worse? He's off to Brussels tomorrow morning on hols at 6am. Poor Sod.

Sorry if I swore I would, but I could spit. 2 hrs out for a drink with us and this happens........

Well it's been a long time since I updated so here goes.

All been very quiet, love my new job as a Civil Enforcement Officer- the rota takes some getting used to, but nearly 3 months in, I think I can remember it by now!

Off to Germany on Saturday to see the Christmas Markets - of course I have developed a stinking cold yesterday so lovely Tescos have sold me some cold treatments.

Time for North West Tonight to see the snow- nothing here!

Well followers of my blog will know the stress of my worklife. So finally.......

Having been stressed out, team stuff (most of which I hate), I was referred to Occ Health at work. And hopefully this means I will become a CEO (in old terms a Traffic Warden again).

I can't wait. Seriously. No more team giving me grief- just life on street.

Life can be odd, but I'm going back to life 4 yrs ago. And I cannot wait.

I have woken up and according to NHS Direct I have shingles. I haven't been feeling too well for a couple of days now- but the itchiing is awful.

I had chicken pox when I was 6, so this is certainly shingles.

    Doctors tomorrow.

In line with Katie's blog and events in Exeter yesterday- Plymouth had 2 serious incidents today although no bombings luckily.
Basically I was day off today, so decided to go into town for a pint (or 3) at lunchtime. Being a responsible person we took the bus into town- only to get caught in the 1st alert in North Hill (around the University and library). Thought nothing of it- and walked the back way to the pub on Bretonside.
However when we left to catch the bus on Royal Parade- all hell had broken loose, with police cars, guns everywhere. The police had arrested a couple of men in Old Town Street. The end result was chaos with nobody having clue what was happening. It's all connected to the events of yesterday. Talking to friends, Stonehouse is crawling with Police and Bomb disposal people and its the main news obviously down here on ITV Westcountry and BBC Spotlight.
Until now, I've always thought Devon and Cornwall as being safe places. Sadly it appears we are not.

Knee really bad- back to work today after 2 days off.
Not good. Plus an operation to come. I'm scared. Really scared  The last time I had an operation, I spent 10 days in ICU on life support. The thought of an operation is really freaking me out now.
I'm going to go to councilling about it to try and help me out.

After the funeral yesterday and about 3 hours sleep last night and 6 hours the night before, I'm tired today.
I'm having a glass of wine and a Nytol.
Blimey what happened to Sat nights out drinking till 3am??
It's called life and helping friends out. And it beats clubbing by thousands to one.
    Everytime.

Sadly a great friend of ours lost his Aunt last week, and we went to her funeral this afternoon. Kath was 91.
It was all fairly somber, and both Darren and myself cried during the early part of the service. Then came the last hymn after the committal at the crem. The song was "All things bright and beautiful". Now I know all the words to this classic hymn, having had to sing it every morning at primary school, and as the hymn started, it looked like Darren did too. So I put the hymn book down.
By the time it came to the 3rd verse, I could see from Darren's face he was clearly looking at the book for the words (so much for him knowing the words). So I did the first thing I could think of.
I closed the hymn book.
Suddenly from singing all the words, he started going la la la la Then started giggling. Loudly. Which set me off.
I honestly thought we'd got away with giggling at a funeral, until Mike came up to us at the wake and asked why we'd been giggling at his Aunt's funeral. When we told him the story, he burst out laughing saying- "that's help make my day- Kath loved a laugh." He proceeded to tell all at the wake the story, and they all agreed that was a funny thing to do.
Kathleen Muriel Harvey 1916-2008. Rest in Peace.

I was told last week on top of stress from work, that I need an op on my knee.
My cartilidge is gone in my left knee. Now this set off several problems for me.
The last time I had an op in 2000, I spent 10 days in ICU on life support from a mistake from a surgeon who cut through an artery when my appendix had to come out. So I had 2 op's in 5 hours.
Next problem- this has left me scared stiff of hospitals. Big style.
So, muggings here, was think until today, take 3 Ibropuben each night for the pain, I'll be fine. Until today when I moved some office furniture around. Tonight I am in agony in my left knee.
I was hoping for the depression to be off my sick record, but here I am, resigned to an op and the daft worry about an op, plus the daft worry about the potenital sickness from my knee.
    Daft huh?

    Happy Easter all!
Firstly- I'll start by saying, that I have slipped off the bandwagon regarding smoking. But I have plans to stop from tomorrow.
Last week at work was frankly awful. If you look at my blog entries from last February, the same situation occured again, which led to my boss and my bosses boss coming down on my side as my work team decided to play silly beggers , resulting in a very embarrasing moment for a trainer from the British Parking Association. So I got very stressed and angry.
Fingers crossed tomorrow will be good.
However, Darren took me away for Easter to Brixham and I've had a lovely relaxing destressing time, walking in snow, hail and other normal Easter weather events. At least the caravan had hot air heating. Did feel sorry for the people camping next to us mind!

Nothing to say bar- here I am!

I've lost count but still no ciggies!
Going ok- hard day at work today- with damn staff playing up, but had a meeting with my boss and took my Nicorette Inhalator into the meeting and pretended to flick fag ash into my cup of hot tea
Oh and my training for my 10k didn't happen tonight. Instead I rediscovered my long lost love. Finally after 7 years (and having had them in the USA) I discoverd Asda are selling Oreo biscuits. Trust me in the biscuit world they are god like  . On my trips to the US I would seriously buy a load and put them in my hand luggage (probably running the risk of 15 years imprisionment for bring food into the UK)
So no smoking and an Oreo rediscovery. Blimey 2008 is looking up!!!!
Louby- hope it's going well- pvt me!!!
