  1. Boo! First cloudy spell for a long time. Sun still poking through, looking like it will thicken over the course of the day.

Looks like any threat of thunderstorms in this part are diminishing, haven’t seen any rain since the 8th of may!

Third day in a row of 32°C+ here.  Far hotter than July!

    Great stuff!

We did hit 34*C here in July but was just a one day wonder. Though the weather was good during that heatwave, we were continually plagued with high cloud.

This heatwave far better for us here. We have had 3 continuous days of 31*C here!  Also looking likely that we will hit another 30*C tomorrow.Plus the continuous 7 days of wall to wall sunshine has been amazing. Much better than the the July heatwave.

Stunning weather and nice to have an actual summer in August. Won’t be long though before the traditional westerly winds will be back and with that being the never ending cloud.

  3. What a vile day down here. Feels like late autumn!

Plagued by thick low cloud, high winds and non stop drizzle. Such a contrast to last weekend! Just got another august feeling, where we will be experiencing this sort of weather weeks on end. Hopefully I am wrong

Raining here, but temp still 30c, no thunder and lightning; and the air is smelly!

Rain had passed through here between 1/2pm. But it was very little.

Noticed the air was quite dusty. Feels like I am aboard!

Sun is now back out and still very warm surprisingly.

Thought I'd bring my reply over here..

I've been confused by the MetO forecast for here.. Only today has it finally shown above 30°C for Monday, prior to that, 28 - 29°C

The UKV has been persistently showing 34 to 35°C.

UKV has been showing 30°C at 9am on Monday, MetO showing 23 - 24°C

Same here. It’s been forecasted on the models for past 5/6 days to be around 31-33C in these parts on Monday. Yet the MetO forecast was showing highs of 24-26C for days. Only now it’s updated this evening to 31C.

Yet the BBC and the my phone app has been showing what the models have. Wondering why the MetO have been so far apart?

  6. Surprised how quick it warmed up throughout the day. This morning felt pretty fresh with a light breeze, but early afternoon it died down and the temperature hit around 25/26. With wall to wall sunshine, perfect summers day!

Looking forward to more the same tomorrow, albeit it should be around 29/30. Which will be our hottest day since last year.

Keeping an eye on the Met Office automated forecast which updates regularly and gives an idea of what the model used by the Met Office for them is showing. Although I don’t know what model they use for these.

Showing potential for a new record here (current record is 32.9’C) and has increased Tuesday to 38’C for Heathrow. Although, if current trends on the publicly available models are correct, the highest temperatures could be further north.

I have found the met office app to be extremely poor during the past few weeks. I know it’s an automated output but it has underestimated the temperature by a few degrees nearly everyday for this part of the UK.

For Monday it is only showing a temperatures between 24-26 degrees yet every other weather app is showing between 31-33 degrees. Which is will be close to the record here, though it is hard to know as the weather data is limited in these parts and the nearest station is mumbles head. Which is not ideal.

Is all that rain on the radar over south Wales, the Cotswolds area and the Mildands reaching the ground? Looks so much heavier and more widespread than the forecast.

Rained for about 40 mins here, but nothing major. Probably fizzle out once it pushes eastwards

At the end of the day, temperature of 30-40°c are not going to last as it’s well above our average summer temperatures. So whilst the heatwave may unfortunately end, I think most of us would be happy if we revert to low to mid 20’s with good spells. So long as we don’t attract a snotty trough and have weeks of wet weather.

Yeah I agree, as long we don’t go back through that dreadful two week period in the middle of June then I’ll be happy. 13-15 degree maxes with continual downpours for days on end is depressing. See enough of that in the autumn.

  10. Perfect summers day here. Highs of around 25/6*C here, some intermittent cloud cover between 12-3pm but not too bad. Blue skies ever since.

Currently sat out the back garden with cold beer in hand. Can’t beat it, hopefully more to come this summer.

Does this in Brum all the time. Can guarantee cloudy late morning til about 5pm with just some bright bits.

Same here in Swansea. Where in fact it’s been pretty poor since the Azores high was pulled west around two weeks ago. Pretty much cloudy nearly everyday until 5-6pm with an average high of between 21/23 with the odd day or so of 25/26.

Though as much I love the hot weather, if some had offered us this summer(particularly the end May/June) then I would of said yes. Hopefully we can get to see a 30c in this parts before the summer ends.

Not much in Porthcawl either tbh, 2010 would beat this hands down when there was a really decent amount of snow around even on the beach

Oh yeah 2010 beats this hands down we had significant snowfall (30cm if I remember correctly) which I haven’t experienced since then. Not really expecting much more to be honest from this spell of snow. Unless that band of heavy PPN reaches here.

  13. Been crazy up here in tonmawr, been very fine snow since 3. But starting to accumulate (4/5cm) with some drifting occurring. Winds have been really strong so proper blizzard conditions. All in all very surprised given that port Talbot/neath/Swansea have very little. However my elevation of 180m is obviously helping.  Let’s hope that chuck of heavier PPN keeps on heading north west for the lowland areas around here can join the action.
