Morning all, a lovely sunny start to the working week, makes getting up and starting work much easier
Looks a bit of a mixed bag this week, but some useable weather mixed in.
I don't take much note of long range forecasts but did read the Met Office one, mentions strong winds at times in the South and unsettled with Rain!!....Hopefully wrong.

I work outside doing landscaping and I have to say since October I've never known so many calls about ground movement (subsidence) in the garden, especially those with a slope etc
Usually it would just be general calls about a brick wall collapse or a fence blown down....shows how saturated the ground is.
Also noticeable how much moss is laying between roof tiles.

Yep, glorious day to be working outside, fresh out the sun but soon warm up. Looking like a fairly mild week if a touch breezy at times.
Still too early for the Winter is over posts though ...Even thoigh Spring is in touching distance now, I think it was about the 8th of March last year we had a day of on off snow flurries, nothing settled but was nice to see, a mile or so down the road didn't witness anything though!

Well I'm really looking forward to the rain.....I've kind of missed it where it's been dry for a few days...
Not!!
Enjoy the chase you lot further North in this thread.

I'm not keen on the new quote function, I like to read the post someone is replying to, especially in the MO thread.
Anyway, Grey, Dull but Mild so at least getting some bits done in the garden, yesterday in the sun was very pleasant.
I don't ever remember having to clear up so much Moss around the garden which has come from the roof, not a bad thing though

was actually a lovely day outside almost spring-like as Troy said, if that wind was calmer I could actually sit outside for a bit but have to wait for a few months for that yet.
Yeah it was just the wind/breeze that made today bit chilly in the shade, working outdoors was pleasant enough today though.
Friday in the sunshine may feel like Spring, especially with the wind dropping!

Usually as we get towards the end of Feb, certainly as we enter March.
Working outside it's nice to feel that early spring warmth, plus the lighter nights to l look forward to
P.S Still hoping for a proper snow event in Feb though....but hopes are fading!

This Winter for us in the SE may go down as the one that got away in regards Snow.
Twice things were looking really good, only to fail for many of us at the final hurdle.
I've not even seen a decent Thunderstorm for two years+

Been a bit busy last couple of days trying to keep warm working outside!!
What's the latest regarding that storm that was showing for Sunday?
-
Bit or a boring cold grey dull day here, was better yesterday with beautiful blue sky.

The Met Office still going with a chance of light snow grazing the South Coast tomorrow morning.
Just goes to show how extremely close and unlucky we are to something decent

Just watched the latest Met Office video forecast, still keep an eye on Wednesday as you'd expect. I would post the video but have no idea how to embed the video on here.
-
The written forecasts still give a small glimmer of hope, especially for those close to the South Coast.
Beeb - Some uncertainty surrounding conditions on Wednesday with a chance of spells of snow pushing up from the south. This may result in some accumulation, especially over any hills, but this is low confidence at present.
Met Office - Cold or very cold conditions with widespread sharp frost, plenty of winter sunshine and remaining largely dry. Breezy with significant wind chill. Low risk of snowfall along south coast Wednesday.
The next round of updates will be interesting, and also will bring in the weekend forecasts!

So now the main focus is on a potentially nasty storm for the South next weekend, no doubt that's something that does come up trumps when we don't blooming want it or need it!
At least some dry weather over the next few days, probably will still check the radar on Wednesday, just to see how it plays out across the Channel etc

Us it only just starting, yesterday was freezing here, and developed fog even before night fall.
We may even see a flake or two this evening
The feel like temperatures this week will certainly be bitter!

So we are finally at Sunday and the start of this next Cold spell.
So as things stand for the week ahead..
Cold ☑ Frost ☑ Snow 20% Wednesday for the SE.
I'm hoping by this time tomorrow the % can get to 30% for Wednesday depending on how the outputs show the low positioning.
Today is an interesting day as to how the models compare to the events being played out up North today in real time.
In terms of a significant snow event for the SE I'd say we are currently at 10% with plenty of twists and turns to come still. When you look at some of the temperatures modelled for Thursday and Friday that tells me they've considered snow cover on the ground?
Enjoy the ride!

The latest models seem to out my part of East Sussex in the sweet spot for Wednesday with the shift north of the low. Oh for it to stay that way.
I think i'll play it safe and wear a ski on the right foot and a flip flop on the left!

I'm happy where the low is predicted at the moment, as lawrenk states more often than not they drop further South.
If it had us slap bang on the money at this stage, you know what would happen! Plenty of ups and downs to come, not worth worrying about just yet, will take things more seriously by the weekend.
Another chilly but lovely winter's day out, helping to slowly dry things out!

My next point of interest is a week from now (Tues 16th).....Potential for a Wintry mix at least?
-
Well although the snow didn't amount to much here it was still nice to see some falling and radar watching and so on.
I'm not saying my snow fix is now down but I do feel slightly more relaxed knowing I've seen some falling snow at least this winter and in 2024.
...The only way is up?

DP will play a role now in any showers, rather than yoyoing between snow showers
