  1. Hi Sungirl, Talking car windscreens... mine was frozen on the inside this morning and that's a first! Like you, looking foward to the snow, but don't feel ready for it quite yet...
  2. Very heavy rainfall now, bashing around on the windows... night all!
  3. Watching the lightning over towards Reading...Headed this way and brought rain with some accompanying gusts!Quieter now... drizzly night. Ooo... hang on! Some lovely, long, low rumbles circling and the rain is becoming heavier!
  4. A most amazing flash and almighty rumble overhead this morning (7.15ish) followed by a deluge ... is that what we should expect for the week ahead?!!
  5. Garden certainly appreciated this mornings downpour but even though fast and furious, the moisture burned off within moments! Couple of nice rumbles and a power outage at work (and the next village), for half an hour. Fan went off and under a tin roof upstairs... phew! Back home and a quick stroll alongside the river to inhale some lovely Thames air and I noticed one of the large willows has shed a huge limb... right over the footpath near moorings! Despite being by water on the meadows, the trees are thirsty too! Here's a quick tip from my 16 year old son, George... open the loft hatch to allow the warm air up a level allowing you fresher air from the ground level! Genius in the making! Sleep well, all.
  6. Well, last night's chilly wind took many of us by surprise, especially as we stood alongside The Thames being serenaded by melodies from The Beach Boys! I believe temperatures plummeted to around 11c! Brrr! But they still give out those... Good Vibrations! Tonight, tunes from Jamie Cullum and on Friday, Madness! You've gotta love The Henley Festival but do wrap up for the twilight light hours!
  7. Overcast, drizzly and just 16c at present... The Regatta Rampage has begun and the town is awash with blazers, boaters and brollies! Looking forward to warmer weekend celebrations!
  8. OK... two hours later and the breeze has returned with white clouds filling the skies... roll on summer!
  9. Quick update... cloudless sky and I'm off to stroll the riverbank!
  10. Hmm... no sun although clouds are bright. It's very still and at 17c should we expect a rumble or two?
  11. Sitting in the garden under clear blue skies (yes, should be mowing!) Currently 15c yet gusty cool wind never far away! Second decent Bank Holiday this year, so far...
  12. 13c in Henley and overcast but bright with little breeze...
  13. Tis' certainly a damp and chilly night here at 8c but not as gusty as last night... yet! Hold onto your hats down there on the coast!
  14. So, my Devonshire friends, how's it looking in Bideford? My daughter is spending the weekend with a 100 other children on an activity weekend and the kit list suggested a cagoule and sun cream! Have the teachers got it right...?!! Iggy
  15. Hazy skies, moderate breeze but 15.5c in Henley on Thames ... welcome summer! EDIT ... and then I visited the Models Forum - winter's not quite finished with us yet, so it seems! Make the most of this week!
  16. 10c in that sunshine, even at 5pm...?!! So many happy faces around town enjoying the warmth on their backs, at last! Enjoy!
  17. I, for one, hope this thread doesn't disppear until the next winter arrives. There are so many lovely weather types to report upon in differing degrees across our area and whilst I'm tucked away on the outskirts, I feel a certain camaraderie with several members having throughly enjoyed the jolly banter on offer since joining in January at the prospect of Snowmaggedon! And what exciting times the were too - remember Ryan The Dutch Weatherman in particular?!! Today, I have worked outside in that harsh easterly, surveying trees, but was quite happy to return home for a cuppa whilst compiling the reports. Looking forward to a little sunshine along the river tomorrow... have a great weekend y'all!
  18. Yep... here too! 2c and light snow flurries in that easterly breeze (brrrrr!) - c'mon, one last dumping then let the warmth of the sunshine return into our lives!
  19. Feeling positive... there is some sunshine and the easterly has dropped back a little which is fab news for my friends Simon & Martin for Marie Curie and Ed & Ben for PTSD currently on their 24 hour race from Devizes to Westminster! If you happen to be on a bridge, near a lock or see these heroic gents racing along the waters, give them a holler of encouragement! It's a tough one but they will do it! Go boys, go! DID YOU KNOW: The race is 125 miles long and has 77 portages. The first 52 miles are along the Kennet and Avon Canal to Reading, the next 55 miles are on the River Thames to Teddington. The final 17 mile section is on the tidal portion of the Thames.Yikes! UPDATE AND RESULTS: After 68 miles, Ed and Ben retired from the race. They were frozen; the canoe was icy and their clothes frosty. Their pace was becoming slower and slower. They made the right decision, along with 40 other retirees, to go home. A sterling effort indeed! However, heroic Simon and Martin pushed on through these brutal conditions with sheer detirmination and completed the course along with 90 other canoes. They arrived in 22 hours 54 minutes putting them in 32nd position! That's endurance! Congratulations to them both!

  21. The morning's welcome sunshine has been and gone... to be replaced by heavy skies and an increasing breeze... . Bizarre Spring weather! So, are we due any ppn in these parts (Henley on Thames)? Or indeed, anywhere from Devizes to Westminster on Saturday as I have (mad...) friends rowing overnight into Sunday... all in aid of charity though folks! C'mon Simon and Martin for Marie Curie and Ed and Ben for PTSD.
  22. Yes, a little light snow falling here too from a yellow tinged sky after some very welcome morning sunshine. Temperature +3c with a light breeze and still some snow on rooftops up the hill out of town. Sunshine briefly reappeared as snow falling ... rainbow/snowbow possible?!!
  23. I was also going to suggest the 23rd April like Boro Snow as it's my son's birthday... who, very obviously is called George! So if that's already chosen how about 20 degrees on the 20th April... seems fair and possible!
  24. Yuk... heavy rain, dark skies, barely 6c and I've much to organise this weekend ... let alone the darned garden shed that's been waiting since Christmas!!! Have a great weekend y'all. Iggy
