  1. We are golden (well orange)! Been a long train coming this! I think in this set up lots of the region will be getting involved at some point so I’m expecting more of these warnings to go out
  2. Looks like it’s finally on Paul! We wait all this time and it’s occurring pretty much 30 years to the day! Crazy! I remember that day really well, playing football on the Wednesday night with showers of graupel falling then overnight things changed, heavy snow showers on and off then by 2pm the persistent snow kicked in and we were sent home from school. Found this site with some details from that memorable event, some really great charts and data from the met office there too: https://wansteadmeteo.com/2018/02/06/the-severe-cold-spell-of-february-1991/
  3. Yup Geneo low in situ too! ?? Keeps the easterly flow strong ?? Interesting to see how that low out west interacts in the next few runs
  4. Thanks Kasim, just saw Nicks reply too. I’ll remove the plastic sheeting from the chair for now! Still looks like a long period of snow around here regardless. This synoptic set up is as rare as hens teeth and traditionally EA does well out of it so let’s see how this pans out. All eyes on the short range higher resolution models from tomorrow
  5. Wow that’s an incredible amount of snow Nick! Is that frontal or showers banding together? If that comes off we won’t of seen snowfall in this part to the UK since Feb 91... nearly 30 years to the day! *edit Just sorry saw your reply so could be faulty data then?
  6. Looking like a repeat of last weekend again to me? Good for the west and south west of the region to see a covering again. Of course things could change and I hope we get a more elongated low meaning less of a mild wraparound for the rest of us. Personally my interest is more into next week now and the chance of seeing some true cold air advected west but we just need that Genoa low to get on the scene to help us out!
  7. Yes Tim, looks like we have repeating patterns here. I know it’s not ideal for most and not deep cold everyone is yearning for but at least it keeps offering chances.
  8. Lashing it down with rain here now! Temps have crept up slowly all day. Got lucky last week to be fair so glad others enjoyed their snow day
  9. The SE draw is killing the precipitation on the eastern flank, evaporating before it hits the ground drying out. Hence the radar returns but nothing falling.
  10. You can clearly see the the string SE breeze shearing away at the front on the NE edge of the front hence the rain reports. Still hopeful for seeing something white later for us further north in the region as the front pivots and starts heading SE again ?? Impressive scenes out west
  11. Some proper dumpings go on which is good to see! Hopeful of seeing something later here from the bend back in the form of showers but looks like west is best for this region. Pivot point and sweet spot looks to be west of Cambridge. Seems like the front is breaking up on the NE edge, maybe due to some shearing of the winds off the coast(and slightly milder air)? Also would tie in with reports of rain on the Kent and Essex coast
  12. Light to moderate snow still here, no chance of it settling due to intensity and air temps being on the warm side but nice to see. All of you Londoners and people in the SE looking really good for tomorrow at the minute. It’s all about the pivot!
  13. Light snow finally arrived right on dusk here, some decent sized flakes though
  14. And just like that, it’s turned. Felt lucky to get to see some decent snow, onto February then and hope we can get a more meaningful spell where the whole region can get in on the action. Until next time...
  15. 50p sized flakes now, had a level 2-3cm now and most of that has fallen in the past hour. Seeing a lot of the posts from around the region looks like we get lucky over here
  16. Still snowing here, bigger flakes now appearing and the sign that it will all be over soon.
  17. Yeah the second front looks much more potent but but might be the beginning of the end. Either way finally happy to see some settling snow!
  18. Moderate snow here in Ipswich, nice covering and radar looking good for a few more hours before it turns. Best snowfall for many years! Edit... thrillingly, it started to settle on the roads now too
  19. ?? Absolutely still belting down there, be handy for next week when they get another dumping. This is what it’s come to... desperate vicarious snow fixes!
  20. Would this be the result more colder dry air moving in? You couldn’t make this up - well I suppose you could actually! Onto next week for more marginal excitement
  21. Looks like the band is now breaking up as soon as we get temps more conducive for snow!
  22. Just cold drizzle here in Ipswich at the min, temp just above 0°C and dew just below. I’m assuming we need some heavier precipitation?!
